Great carrier for the price November 3, 2009 Carrie Marshall (Lexington, KY) We used this carrier on a Saturn Aura that did not have rails on top. We bought separate, removeable rails, and attached this bag to them. We drove 12+ hours to and from Disneyworld, through lots of rain and there was no leakage at all. Very strong and sturdy. It held a big, collapsable stroller and three other big bags. I would definitely buy it again.
Highland Kar Pak is a nice product... October 15, 2009 Carey W. Evin (Dover, DE USA) This is a nice product for the budget minded person who doesn't want to clutter up their garage with a hard shell product that may or may not hold as much as this. The only thing I really didn't like was the fact that it will catch all the wind while your on a road trip and might cut into your gas milage on the trip. Over all I like the waterproof and capacity of this item and recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to shell out $200 or more for a hard shell car top storage.
Very good quality product October 6, 2009 Gavin Christiansen (Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just a note: your roof racks DO NOT need to be as big the dimensions of the bag. I used it on a two door honda accord with a very small roof rack. Its soft so it can fit whatever space you have.
The material is high quality and very durable. I'm very glad I went for the waterproof carrier. It poured the whole 6 hour ride and everything made it perfectly dry. I fit two large duffel bags of clothes, one extra large vacuum bag and a few garbage bags full of clothes. I was amazed at how much actually fit in there.
The only downside to this product is the straps. Which on their own i would not trust. I fixed this by putting a set of ratchet straps, two from front to back and two from side to side. This thing wasn't going anywhere!
Good quality and not too expensive September 30, 2009 D. Moccia 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were looking for a cargo carrier for a trip on vacation and at first looked at Thule and Yakima. Most of reviews I read suggested that these will leak in heavy rain. Quite honestly if I am paying 175-350 dollars for a plastic box of any sort it better not leak. I understand that the cargo box is a good option for people who do not wish to take the carrier off when not in use, but for a intermittent use this carrier is real nice. It holds a fair amount, I had no issue with water getting in and it folds up nicely and fits in my trunk when not in use. If you are going to use a carrier on vacation a few times a year this is the way to go.
great for 4 hours September 29, 2009 Molly's mom (Buffalo, NY) We just got back from our second trip using this bag. DON'T CHEAPEN OUT, GET A HARD TOP CARRIER. The first leg of our first trip down our suitcases almost ended up scattered over the Garden State Parkway!! People were frantically pointing to our roof and low and behold the pack had opened (lesson to us to use twist ties or a small padlock next time to secure the zipper). On our trip home we had to stop constantly because the ties kept loosening up. When my husband took the pack off the car we found there was a hole in the pack the size of a fist. Wouldn't you think that we wouldn't use it again??? Well we are a glutton for punishment and my husband has great faith in duct tape. On this recent trip one of the straps ripped clear off and we had to tie it down with what was on hand. Its unusable now after roughly 25 hours of use.
