I put 2 slices (sandwich) in a single slot November 23, 2009 Lodorand This toaster is pretty reliable, and most importantly predictable. If you tried a setting and it worked, then it will give you the same result every time you try it again, considering the same type of bread of course. I live in a dormitory and don't have a toaster oven, so I had to be a bit creative to make my toasted melted cheese sandwiches. What I do is, I put the cheese toast sandwich in the microwave for about 30 secs, then put all of it in one slot of the toaster. Luckily the slots are wide enough for it to fit without being squeezed. I also put a small piece of aluminum foil beneath the sandwich to avoid the melted cheese dripping onto the toaster base, but this rarely ever happens because the two bread slices will be slightly compressed once the thing is turned on. Still you have to put it for safety. I also put an aluminum foil vertically in the other slot to block the heat from that slot from burning the sandwich side facing it. This foil should be slightly larger than the sandwich size. Putting the heat setting on 1.5 is enough since the bread will already be hot from the microwave. More than that and you'll have burned sides. It sounds complicated but is actually pretty fast and straight forward. It's a good way to make your ham and cheese sandwich on a low budget in a space constrained environment such as a dorm room.
Great Toaster November 15, 2009 M. Burginger (Bend, Oregon) Plain, simple, straight forward - this toaster is now a member of our family. The Haier does what it should do, each and every time. Dependable.
Customer Service is a JOKE November 3, 2009 Nelson R. Parente (Rio de Janeiro, RJ Brazil) My unit broke with less than one year of use.
I contacted their customer service 3 times, sent 3 emails using their web site (there is no phone number) and none of my emails got a reply.
In terms of services and support, this company is a joke.
Haier 2 slice/wide slot toaster October 28, 2009 Gary P. Lothrop (NY Catskills) At first we were not impressed because we did buy a lower priced toaster after all.
After toasting quite a few bagels in this Haier I have to change and admit it does a fine job.
I would replace it with the same model immediately if this one goes on the fritz.
yes, finally a working toaster October 28, 2009 Al Alessi (Woodstock, VT United States) We've bought a bunch, and some little plastic part would break and we'd buy another. This one is solid, dependable, and we're very pleased wih the purchase.
