4 out of 5 stars "Greatest Hits...It's HIStory Volume One!"   November 7, 2009
Freelan Justice (West Virginia, USA)
Billie Jean - One of Michael's most known classic songs, Billie Jean is also one of his most dance oriented songs. I dare you to play this song and not want to dance around the room. What a way to open HIStory Volume One!

The Way You Make Me Feel - One of the highlights from one of my favorite albums of all time. Just like Billie Jean, this is just a fun little song to dance around the room too, and I dare you to play this song and NOT want to dance around the room. "The way you make me feel/You really turn me on/You knock me off of my feet now/My lonely days are gone..."

Black or White - This song was controversial when it first come out, but it also became one of Michael's most beloved songs, especially of the 1990's. Don't worry about the color of somebody's skin, because "it don't matter if you're black or white!" This song gives a good message, if you actually take the time to listen to it.

Rock with You - One of Michael's earliest hits from the chart-topping "Off The Wall." This is another one of those dance around the room songs, and, once again, I'm going to DARE you to play this song and NOT want to dance around the room as it plays.

She's Out of My Life - I love this ballad. I love how Michael cries at the end of the song. I just love everything about this song. And, it's actually a true song if you're living the experience. So it hits home for me, and I love everything about it, but especially how he cries at the end of it. That makes a very good added effect, even if it wasn't planned!

Bad - Michael had to prove to the world he was bad, and do that he did. It also produced an 18-minute mini-movie directed by famed and loved director, Martin Scorsecse. "Ya know I'm bad/I'm bad/Ya know it!" I think this is one of the songs that brought Michael into the mainstream, especially after proving that he was indeed as bad as he said he was.

I Just Can't Stop Loving You - This is just one of those songs, man. You can't describe the feeling and emotion of this song. You just have to play it and experience it for yourself. But it's another one of those true songs if you're experiencing what he and Siedah are singing about...

Man in the Mirror - This is one of the more personal -- and beautiful -- songs of Michael's career. It's a beautiful I don't want to call it ballad, but I will. It's also a very personal song, urging people to start changing the world with the man in the mirror--themselves. Beautiful.

Thriller - Ah, there's THAT song. The song that produced the greatest music video of all time, in my honest opinion, and the song that showed the world that Michael can move if he wants to...plus he makes a good zombie too, for the record. This is the ONE song that HAS to go on a Michael Jackson greatest hits collection, otherwise it wouldn't be complete. Somebody says Michael Jackson, what's the first song and/or video that comes to your mind? Just think about that...

Beat It - Another one of Michael's more known songs with a GREAT dancing beat and a GREAT video to accompany it. This is another one of those songs on this album where I'm going to DARE you to play it and not tap your foot at least, if you can't dance, or not dance around the room if you can dance. That's the good thing about this song -- you want to dance when it's playing, regardless of if you can dance or not! :)

The Girl Is Mine - Michael's duet on "Thriller" with Beatle Paul McCartney. And only those two could pull something like this off!

Remember the Time - Only Michael could take a song about losing a love and make a DANCE NUMBER out of it! I still don't know how he was that talented, but he was. I also love the video for the Egyptian theme and the appearance of Eddie Murphy, which blew my mind. I never thought I'd dance to a song about a lost love...until I heard and understood what "Remember The Time" was about.

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - "Keep on with the force don't stop/Don't stop til you get enough!" Michael's first really big hit from the chart-topping "Off The Wall," and what a way to start your career. The video is SO simple compared to all of Michael's later videos, but I have to give the man his due...he picked a great song to start his career with!

Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' - Don't ask me why, because I still can't tell you to this day, but this has always been one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs. Sure, you can dance to it, sure, you can relate to it, but I can't tell you why it's always been one of my favorite one's. It just always has, and I am very glad that they included it in this collection.

Heal The World - One of Michael's more personal -- and beautiful -- songs, right up there with "Man In The Mirror." This song is urging people to heal the world and make it a better place. I don't know why that's such a hard request, but it didn't happen in Michael's lifetime, unfortunately. But it's a beautiful song and a great way to close out "Volume 1-HIStory: Greatest Hits."

4 out of 5 stars Can't beat it...   September 23, 2009

After the untimely death of MJ, I realized that I was a fan of his music but did not own any of his records. For my needs, this was a great album which contains many of his best songs. The only song missing was Human Nature which I downloaded on to my iPod. My wife and kids also were happy with the album.

5 out of 5 stars greatest hits? - YES   September 12, 2009

As a long-time fan of Michael Jackson, I wanted to buy one of his CDs, but wanted to get as many of the best songs as possible on one cd. This didn't disappoint, as many "best of" are just re-recorded or not the same quality as the original song. Not true. This does have most of his best songs in the original versions.
Very happy I bought this.......
