Amore Infinito is the new album by Plácido Domingo, who calls it one of the most important recordings of his career. Before Karol Wojtyla became Pope John Paul II, he began writing poetry during years as a quarry worker, playwright, actor, seminary student and priest. Now Domingo, out of deep respect and reverence for "the greatest human being I have ever known," has created this collection of settings as a personal affirmation of faith and tribute to the late Polish pontiff. ALSO AVAILABLE a limited edition, numbered hard bound version of Amore Infinito--a hardcover "book"--5 1/4" wide by 7 1/4" high and 1/2" thick. The special package will include the CD plus color photos of not only the artists on the CD, but also include some very touching and poetic photos of the late Pope John Paul II.

2009 album from the world famous tenor, based upon poems by the late Pope John Paul II. The album is performed with the London Symphony Orchestra and features duets with Andrea Bocelli, Vanessa Williams and Katherine Jenkins. The lyrics are in Italian, English and Spanish. Placido is known for his versatile and strong voice, possessing a ringing and dramatic tone throughout its range. He is considered to be a talented and hard-working musician but is also admired for his acting ability, his musicality and musical intellect, and the number and variety of opera roles that he has mastered. This CD is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys classical music. All the voices are superb and the London Philharmonic Orchestra is unsurpassed. Only two of the poems have an English translation and are sung in English. The others are either Italian or Spanish. My only wish is that the included brochure had English translations of the other poetry that is not sung in English.

Extremely well done! Absolutely Inspiring! I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates the inspired writings of John Paul II and the sheer devotion and artistry of Placido Domingo! Do read the book as you listen!

The CD Amore Infinito by Placido Domingo and his son is a brave attempt to put the poetry of John Paul II to music. I would like to see a book of his poems, translated, rather than paraphrased. I hope someone will do it.
