"The List" Begs For More November 27, 2009 Aunt Blabby (Evansville, IN USA) Rosanne Cash is one of the most perceptive songwriters writing today. She is of my generation and grew up listening to the same music I listened to, mainly rock and roll. She deservedly made the country charts in the 1980s but even then her music was not strictly country. Like her father, she can't be pigeon-holed into a single category of music. If anything she brings a fusion of influences from folk, country, rock, jazz, the blues and whatever else she has listened to and appreciated over the years. Although the tunes in "The List" were important in giving her a "crash" course in country music, they, too, defy categories, and with her creative arrangements, she made them fresh and all her own. I would never have associated the very mellow lead-off song, "Miss the Mississippi," with Jimmie Rodgers, the Singing Brakeman. This is one set I know I will listen to over and over, and here's hoping she does "List 2," "List 3," and so on.
Rosanne Cash's new CD is great! November 25, 2009 V. Preece (Salt Lake City, Utah) I really have enjoyed this CD. I have already listened to it many times. I am not a big C/W fan, but do like a few CDs and this one is one of the best I have listened to.
classic songs November 24, 2009 Redzini (Rochester, NY United States) I bought this album because many of the songs on there had childhood memories for me- Sea of Heartbreak, Take these chains from my Heart etc. I was not too familiar with Roseanne Cash's vocals, but I must say I was impressed. A mellow and beautiful album.
Nice job, Roseanne! November 22, 2009 L. Plusquellec (Wooster, OH USA) This is a good album, especially for lovers of Johnny Cash! But Roseanne has a fine voice that's easy to listen to.
Suprised I liked it as much as I did. November 22, 2009 Susan G. Zarszynski (Virginia Beach, Virginia United States) Pleasantly surprised because I didn't expect to enjoy the material so much.
I've found myself playing it over and over.
