 "Somewhere else" is actually "Something else" November 24, 2009

I have to admit, that after I read the full story on Killian Mansfield, I felt immediately compelled to purchase his album(on CD of course)just based upon the efforts this kid(young man I'd say)put fourth in making sure his "sound" and style of music playing, were evident throughout the entire album.
The fact that he managed to do all of this, while he was fighting for his young life at the same time, just made this album an even greater accomplishment than it already was. The songs are almost all "classics", that most everyone has heard before, BUT, and I say it again, BUT, the extrodianry "twist" that Killian Mansfield puts on each of these classics, surely make him an artist to be reckoned with.
Pure, clean and purposeful, are some of the things that come to my mind while I listen to Mr. Mansfield's album. I would have enjoyed the opportunity to listen to this young man's workings for years to come. Both on many classics, and his own songs also.
It is truly a tragedy, that this young artist had to be taken from the world at such a very young age. He was sure to have been a renowned and respected member of the music industry, had he lived a longer life. Though many(including myself)will mourn his passing, let anyone who listens to this album, celebrate his success in accomplishing this un-forgettable work of art... Joe B.

After having purchased some IZ (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) CDs, I was interested in the Uke as a solo instrument. That and the story associated with this recording prompted me to buy "Somewhere Else." I'd like to say it is wonderful; it's not. It's not bad either, but overall it is not impressive, nor a display of what the uke is capable of. This CD will likely show up in the Used CDs bin.

I was led to this cd by the story of the musician's losing battle with cancer but then was very pleased to find a very talented young man who was joined by some good musicians and people who put together some outstanding music. Take a chance on this cd, it is well worth the money plus it goes for a good cause.
