5 out of 5 stars once again, TMBG makes fun and educational CD/DVD   November 27, 2009
S. Lundy (Gilberts, IL)
This DVD/CD set is great! Maybe my kids are smarter than the average bear, but I do not agree with the one review that stated that the concepts taught in this set by TMBG is too difficult for kids to learn from. My daughter who is only two understands now that when something gets too hot, it becomes a gas (how we explained it to her, it was like when she sees "smoke" coming out of her mouth when it is cold outside or when she sees Mommy boiling water on the stove and she sees the "smoke" billowing up on top of the pot; or when we let ice get too warm it melts and it becomes a liquid like water). She also can recognize and name a lot of the planets now thanks to this DVD/CD set. And she has me repeat Blood Mobile the entire 45 minute car ride to school. Blood Mobile is absolutely the cleverest song ever - and has my kids very interested in how the human body works. Albeit the concepts discussed are more appropriate for our 5 yo son, who gets basically what they are talking about with photosynthesis, speed, and the elements, both my daughter and he are loving the tunes and the concepts being taught. I had to get used to some of the music, b/c we loved the ABCs and 123s so much, but overall, this was a great buy. I actually bought some as gifts for our son's friends at his Montessori school. We LOVE TMBG...hope to see more kids CDs and DVDs from them.

5 out of 5 stars Five Reasons To Buy   November 27, 2009
Ursula K. Raphael (Michigan, USA)
These are my top five reasons for buying Here Comes Science:
1) The entire family loved Here Come The 123s [CD/DVD] -- it's still played on a regular basis.
2) You get a full-length DVD, with the CD, which has animated videos of the songs...for an excellent price.
3) The song lyrics are educational (they even present opposing theories), and the videos do a captivating job of illustrating the scientific explanations.
4) The lyrics include an extensive vocabulary -- they don't dumb down the info presented.
5) The music alternates between styles for each song, showcasing the talent of They Might Be Giants, as well as proving to be an entertaining addition to our road trips.

While I had no problems with any of the songs, I think parents who don't approve of the Theory of Evolution will not want their children listening to track #6: My Brother The Ape. Therefore, I recommend this CD/DVD combo to everyone except those who have religious reservations concerning science and related theories.

Aside from that, I think a lot of homeschoolers will find that they can make a unit study of each track. It's a fun way to introduce science to preschoolers, and reinforce lessons for grade-schoolers. Even older kids might enjoy Here Comes Science.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing   November 26, 2009
A. McGlynn (Chicagoland, IL)
I don't do kids' music. I LOATHE it. But this is different. It's catchy, not patronizing, educational, and just all-around does NOT suck. I find myself randomly singing "Electric Car" for no good reason. My kids adore the videos, too. They are definitely added value.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing and fun science tool!   November 18, 2009
Steven J. Valasek (Pittsburgh, PA)
This is a fantastic collection of fun songs that actually teach kids some science! The music immediately gets stuck in your head the first time that you hear it, but on the second listen you begin to appreciate the magic that is this CD. Kids actually get to hear what makes science awesome.

5 out of 5 stars My kids are addicted to these songs!   November 17, 2009
Meriaten Long (Duvall, WA)
My kids love these videos for They Might Be Giants songs, especially the ones about the sun! They want to dance to it. Being a TMBG fan myself, I heartily approve. :) This is an awesome buy! Instant Classic.
