4 out of 5 stars Dear Agony, Love Breaking Benjamin   November 23, 2009
Jonathan T. Peterson (Troy, AL)
With Saturate going under the radar, Breaking Benjamin had to wait for We Are Not Alone to break into the mainstream. Phobia, their third album, rocketed them into the forefront of current rock bands. Dear Agony is more of the familiar, yet solid Breaking Benjamin formula we fans have come to love. Sometimes repetitive (it's true)riffs and lyrics sometimes repeat, but then again EVERY (modern) band does that, I dare anyone to say they don't. It's good alternative rock and roll none-the-less and fans above all will really enjoy it. This band is my favorite band alongside 3 Doors Down, but BB could use a little more experimentation with their sound. I would like to hear some variety in tunings and maybe step out of the box with lyrics too. Phobia may have been their most varied album and gave high hopes for experimentation on Dear Agony, but it fell flat in some areas, unfortunately. I'll probably be crucified for this review, but while the album is good, expect more growth at this point in their career. Any true fan of a band would review the bands art in a honest and sincere way. I'm rooting for this band to start getting awards from the music community that they rightly deserve, especially since Benjamin Burnley truly has one of the best voices and most distinct voices in music today, so good luck in the future and hope this one goes platinum too.

4 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NOT GREAT   November 20, 2009
Marc Shelton (BROOKLYN, NY USA)
ITS GOOD.. I HAD TO LISTEN TO IT A FEW TIMES BEFORE I GOT IN TO IT. ITS HARD TO OUT DO HITS LIKE "SOONER OR LATER" AND "SO COLD"..HAPPY LISTENING!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Dear Agony...hard hitting emotional music   November 20, 2009
Jared P. Harrison (LEE, NEW HAMPSHIRE)
This album make sense to be surrounded by sorrow, since lead singer Ben's grandfather passed away in 2008, but there are some great songs on this album. I wouldn't say that it matches the fantastic "We are not alone" album, but it's right there with it. Better than "Phobia" in my opinion and while it often times does sound more radio friendly, it still is very hard hitting and much more growns and growls in the backgrounds (which I'm not always crazy about, but it works here).

Highlights:
Fade Away
Crawl
Hopeless
Dear Agony
Anthem of the Angels
What lies Beneath
Without You

Only song I'm not crazy about is "Lights Out".

4 out of 5 stars Good album, easy to like if you like B.B.   November 19, 2009
Todd M. Dukate (Huber Heights, OH United States)
Breaking Benjamin is a band that puts out good music and this is another example of it. Several good songs, good driving music.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!   November 16, 2009
David N. (San Antonio, Texas)
Very awesome and solid album from the great Benjamin band. The song has a whole different twist and zing to it compared to Phobia; however, I am more of a fan to the Phobia album. I just enjoy Ben's constant surprises when it comes to his song writing and his vocal style because he strives to make his fan base happy. Every song has it's own feel to it and you need to be able to enjoy the song as it goes versus judging it and thinking something totally the opposite. I do recommend you really pay attention the lyrics and the song representation because once you connect and it makes sense...you will totally love this album.
