Glee: season 1, Vol.1 November 27, 2009 TomNTMJ (Chicago Area, IL United States) Somehow Amazon thinks this is a video, but it is the audio soundtrack from the first half season of Glee on Fox TV. It's a great TV show, and I was afraid that JUST the audio would not be that exciting. Well I was wrong, listening to the incredible music, just made the tremendous talent of the cast stand out even more. It puts you in a joyous mood in the morning, on the way to work, and at the end of the day, on the way home. Can't wait for the Second Volume.
Perfect for any Gleek. November 26, 2009 Raymond W. Moseley (Japan) This. CD. Is. Amazing.
I received it quickly, and tore it open. That very day, I played through the entire thing, and as each song ended, I got more and more goosebumps, until the very end-- where, thankfully, Defying Gravity was done in a most fantastic way. I hadn't seen that episode yet, but I'd only heard small snipits of the song itself. I nearly cried, it was so beautiful. I'm a huge Gleek, and I'm excited for the second volume. You can bet I'll be getting that one!
Great Songs, Great remixes November 26, 2009 reviewer This CD was recommended to me by my daughters occupational therapist. I had not seen glee prior to purchasing this. There were many songs on here that I already knew--but what i was struck with was how great the glee version of the music is---i think in all cases, i like the glee version over the original.
It is a great mix of songs done very well and I would highly recommend to fans of glee as well as those who have not seen it. You do not have to have seen the show to enjoy the music. Although, beware, it may make you start watching the show!!!
Cliched show with boring music November 24, 2009 Brian (Los Angeles, California) 2 out of 19 found this review helpful
Why anyone would want to listen to high school kids singing mediocre covers is beyond me. I listened to this album, and thought every song was just so boring. Don't waste your money on this.
My first "Feel Good" CD of the year!!! November 23, 2009 P. Neuber (Plumsteadville) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First I should preface this review with the fact that I am 41 years old and my taste in music ranges from Broadway/Show tunes to Beatles to Country to Alternative. I've never been a huge fan of TV Soundtracks however this one squeaked on through. Now for my review:
I absolutely love this CD. It's truly a feel good CD. Although you don't have to watch the show to enjoy the music it helps to visualize the characters actually performing the numbers. This CD is one of the few CD's I can listen to over and over again utilizing the Repeat button finally (I own over 1000 CD's - so that's a major complement!).
All songs are covers and some of the songs I have by the original artists however it definitely adds some variety to my iPod having the Glee versions (i.e. Dancing With Myself originally by Billy Idol, I Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon and Defying Gravity by Kristen Chenoweth and Indina Menzel).
Speaking of Kristen she appears on two songs on this CD: Alone and Maybe This Time. Her voice is as dazzling as always.
You'll find group numbers that make you want to get up and dance as well as duets that make you want to grab the hairbrush and pretend you're singing (come on! You know you do it!!)
This is a must have CD, trust me you won't regret it!!!
