RAMMSTEIN! November 27, 2009 Shannon Shelley Rammstein is at their all time best with this one. No punches pulled. No holds barred.
Masterpiece November 25, 2009 R. Avila (Texas, USA) This album is simply a masterpiece. I don't know much about music, I mean I don't play any instrument so I can't speak with all the terminology or analyze every single music note in their songs, BUT, I've been a huge fan of Rammstein for a long time. Their music has never disappointed me before, but I have to admit that some of theirs songs or discs are better than others, and this disc is one of their best (Mutter is excellent too). Their music is heavier, but they still keep that sound that characterizes them. This time they didn't experimented as much as in their two previous albums. Only their music gives me an energy that I can't find nowhere else, is like a healthy drug. And about the lyrics, they are typical of them and it still makes me laugh that a lot of people get all alarmed about them, it's only music! Long live Rammstein! This album is a must, so don't hesitate and buy it.
Rammstein Uber Alles! November 25, 2009 D. Tracey Another great CD by a great band! This album isn't their heaviest, but it's awesome nonetheless. The extra tracks on this version are worth the extra money if you're as big a fan as I am, but if you're just a casual listener you can probably do without them.
Incredible Album- Among Best Of 2009! November 22, 2009 Cathode Ray Shadow (USA) RAMMSTEIN returns with another superb album that delivers everything you'd expect and more. I have enjoyed all of their previous albums and this one is no exception- the songs, the melodies, the singing, the energy, the guitar and synth work---all just keep delivering beyond expectations.
If you are a RAMMSTEIN fan, this album should definitely make you very happy, it's a more of a return to their more aggressive roots but there's also a couple of really nice ballads in there as well. Till's vocals are better than ever, presented in an ever-expanding range of emotion this time around, even though he's always spectacular in the deep, angry range he is famous for.
There's really not enough good I can say about this album, every song delivers! And I sure don't understand the disappointment from so many regarding their first single off this recording- Rammstein is known for their dark sense of humor with songs like 'America' and 'Te Quiero Puta' on previous albums- not to mention the insane 'Buck Diche' from their most successful album, SEHNSUCHT. So like Til says in this classic 'pink' song gone insane---'what's the problem?' Lighten up people, it's a satire and while the lyrics are deliberately superficial and corny, the music itself is very cool, as always.
Do not miss this album, and I highly recommend the double-CD version, as the songs on CD # 2 are no leftovers, but very strong Rammstein tunes that you will enjoy immensely!
A Worthy Return November 21, 2009 M. Mitchell (Calgary, AB) Having been an avid Rammstein fan since earlier this decade, this has been my most anticipated album release for quite some time. The tension and excitement built over the course of the past 3 years as Rammstein fans awaited the successor to 2005's "Rosenrot", which had left many fans dissapointed. Although I did enjoy Rosenrot, to me it wasn't quite up to the quality of previous gems like "Mutter" and "Reise Reise", so I, like many other Rammstein fans, was quite curious as to the direction their next project would take. I can say now, upon a full month of exposure to "LIFAD", that the word "dissapointment" hasn't so much as even crossed my mind, and that this album represents a glorious congregation of all their previous styles, with a few new surprises to keep things fresh.
Many had dismissed the album outright before its release upon hearing the first single, perhaps mistaking its style as being representative of the rest of the album, but this is not so. Although fun and catchy, the song in question is a true stand-out on the album in terms of its style, and should not be used as a barometer to guage how one will enjoy the rest of the songs. LIFAD's style seems to traverse Rammstein's entire discography, with anthemic industrial grinders like the opener "Rammlied", fast paced, balls-out rockers like "Waidmanns Heil", and softer acoustic ballads like the album's closer "Roter Sand", or the contagious "Fruehling in Paris", which features a chorus sung in French.
Musically, it is my opinion that this is Rammstein's finest effort overall, with vocalist Till Lindemann and drummer Christoph Schneider in specific exhibiting their finest performances yet. It is also their most diverse, in terms of the variety of styles you hear from one song to the next. Thematically, it is surely their darkest, with the entire album representing a sort of tongue in cheek examination of love at its most extreme (take the title "Liebe ist fuer alle da", meaning "Love is there for everyone"), including a song dedicated to the Fritzl case from Austria.
Rammstein fans should more or less know what to expect from this album, and those seeking that traditional sound will not be dissapointed, as this somewhat represents a return to form for the band after the varying musical styles attempted with the last two albums. Although some may not figure LIFAD to be the best Rammstein album ever made, it must surely be considered to be amongst their finest, and is certainly one of the best albums I've heard from any band in quite some time. A true ambassador of their genre, and a testament to the power of hard music. Highly recommended!
