Amazon.com Product Description
Every home lawn enthusiast needs a reliable trimmer. When it comes to performance in the front or back yard, the Grass Hog 14-inch automatic feed string trimmer and edger provides what you need. This tool is powered by a 4.8 Amp electric motor that spins the line at 9,500 rpm and gives you a 14-inch cutting swath. An Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) system eliminates the need to bump the trimmer against the ground every time the line breaks. And the 30-foot, factory-wound spool is easy to install and replace. Head adjustment is quick and easy, too, when the Groom'N'Edge head rotates 180 degrees; just press the button, rotate the handle and wait for it to lock in place. The patented cord retention system helps prevent accidental unplugging while in use. This trimmer comes equipped with an auxiliary handle for added comfort and control. The handle rotates a full 360 degrees and the soft grip can be moved up and down to ensure the perfect fit, whatever size the operator may be. A flip-down edge guide ensures precise trimming and edging work. At just 5.2 pounds, this product is easy for just about anyone to use. This product is backed by a 2-year full warranty. --Carl Thress

Amazon.com Product Description
A broad 14-inch cutting swath and a powerful five Amp electric motor help the Black & Decker Grass Hog GH600 Electric String Trimmer and Edger make edging, trimming, and weed eating easy tasks to handle. It features a Groom'N'Edge head that can be rotated 180-degrees for quick switches between cutting and edging tasks along with Black & Decker's Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) system, which uses centrifugal force to dispense more line whenever you need it for added predictability and dependability--no bumping required. Also offering the simplicity of electric startups and weighing in at just 5.2 pounds, it's a machine that is incredibly easy to handle, and you won't have to contend with the strain that repeated pull starts and heavier tools can put on your body. Other convenient design elements include a flip-down edge guide, four-position height adjustment, and an adjustable auxiliary handle for a customizable experience and improved comfort. Corded power means work is never brought to a standstill by a dead battery or an empty gas tank, and a patented cord-lock system prevents accidental extension cord disconnections while you work. This tool is backed by a limited 2-year warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Plastic gear melted   October 21, 2009
elmifree
I purchased this grass hog 4 months ago. I've used it twice for light trimming and the third time I used it, the drive belt melted off the plastic motor gear which connects to the string wheel shaft gear (metal). In essence, the thing is ruined. Yes, the engine is powerful, but worthless if the connection to the string wheel shaft is so cheap it melts. Unbelieveable design flaw.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this trimmer!   October 12, 2009

I returned the 1st GH600 because the line would not feed. I threw the 2nd one in the trash as a reminder to myself this is not the Black & Decker that used to make good tools. This Black % Decker makes JUNK.

1 out of 5 stars The one I bought is junk   September 27, 2009

It takes less than 5 minutes to empty the spool... it has a 'sensor' that tells it to spit out string.
I bought it since it was the most expensive corded electric in the store (THD)... and it was still cheap.
It was never an issue to bounce the spool on the ground like the old ones worked... but they went and 'fixed' it anyway...
Gas powered ones that work well enough, and more expensive than a push mower, so I'm off to look at garage sales to get an old one that has not been over-engineered.

1 out of 5 stars Worthless   September 16, 2009
Barbara Baughman (Richardson, TX USA)
I am such a fan of Black and Decker and the grass hog. What ever happened to the quality control on this item? It arrived with a hub cap (keeps the spool in place) that would not seal. I called the company, and they mailed a replacement promptly. Then I used it to trim about 20 feet along the fence and 2 feet on the edge of the sidewalk. The thing then died completely. When I plug it in, it's like there is no electricity going to the engine. This time, Black and Decker told me to rebox it and send it back to Amazon; Amazon says to see the manufacturer for warrantee repairs. I live in the Dallas metropolitan area, but the nearest official repair shop is 30 miles away and is only open Monday-Friday 8-5. So I could take a half day of vacation, drive 60 miles, and see what happened. Instead, I'm going to cannibalize it for parts for my current old Grasshog (the engine still works!), throw this in the trash, and never buy another Black and Decker product again.

4 out of 5 stars Very happy with the way it works.   September 14, 2009

Happy with the trimmer, weed eater. The only thing that would make it better would be if I could it in my chair and do it with a remote control! But they haven't invented those yet.
