If you own a pet, the FURminator(tm) is the #1 tool you should have at home for your cat or dog - no matter how short or long their hair coat is! This easy to use, ergonomic, sturdy, well-made tool helps reduce shedding by up to 90% by removing the loose, dead undercoat without damaging the topcoat. This works great for Golden retrievers, Siberian huskies, Labrador retrievers, and short- or long-haired cats. Have the vacuum handy though, as you'll be shocked (or disgusted) by piles of fur that fly off!
The only bad thing about this Furminator is that you CAN take off TOO much fur and too much undercoat - I made two of my cats partially bald before I realized how well it was working! Overall, it's a bit pricey but great if you have a pet with a lot of fur and a thick undercoat!

I had used the furminator previously- borrowed from a friend and loved it. Unfortunately, Petsmart and everywhere else I found it, had it priced around $50. I was so excited to find it so reasonably priced!! Purchased from "Stoneledge of Cornwall" for just under $10. Thank you soooo much!

I've been working in a dog boarding/grooming kennel for almost five years now, and I must say that the Furminator is probably the best deshedding tool on the market. It works well on all coat types, even long-haired dogs, but it's ideal for dogs with short to medium length coats with downy undercoats; German Shepherds, Corgis, Labrador Retrievers, etc. I've also used it on a Spitz to great effect when combined with a deeper-reaching undercoat rake.
It may not work perfectly on thicker areas of long-haired breeds, such as the haunches or neck/shoulder areas of Golden Retrievers, for instance, but it will help loosen surface hair even in those areas.
(I also commend Amazon for the exceptional discount - the large model sells for almost sixty dollars in pet-retail.)

Great Product. Must be careful not to use too much pressure or you will hurt your dog. Needs to be done outside where the fur can fly. Would buy again.
