Very nice picture, but a bit small versus frames out now. April 21, 2009 J. Gaines (Connecticut, USA) I bought this frame about 2 years ago. The first one I bought actually died about 3 months after I purchased it. I was ticked off, but when I contacted Philips, they were great. they sent me out a new unit, a box to send back the old one, and the new one has worked great ever since. I just had a bad one apparently. Nice screen, nice look to it with the multiple frame plates, but great customer service is what really wins me over on this.
Looks good, but... January 6, 2009 gadget junkie (Maryland, US) I bought this frame 13 months ago. When it worked it looked great. It gets one star for the display quality and another for the overall styling.
The user interface is OK. I didn't need the manual to operate it. However, it is very intolerant of any unsupported file formats. Instead of showing an error message, it just hangs and usually needs a manual reset to get it going again. This is not a big deal I suppose, but it would be nice to not have to parse through all the pictures for stray thumbs.db files that were added by Windows.
The display had been off (but still plugged in) for over a month. When we turned it on again, it wouldn't come on. I talked to a nice guy at Philips customer support, but he couldn't help me because the unit is 13 months old now. I can't argue, because I know it's a 1 year warranty, but it sure is frustrating. I paid half again the current advertised price for this unit and now I either throw it away or experiment. BUMMER!!
Love this product! June 18, 2008 Darius J. Kaufmann 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wow, I LOVE this! It's my first photo frame, and I think it's great! The clarity is wonderful, and it's super-convenient and fun to share pics with family and friends -- Because of the internal rechargeable battery, no cord is required, so I can just carry it around with me and show off my pics of family and garden to whoever I want.
My only minor complaints are about the software -- First, it's not self-evident how to copy the pics from PC to frame -- It takes a little figuring out -- Some simple directions (either printed or on the CD-ROM) would really be nice. (Fortunately, Philips has great product support.) Accessing individual photos from the thumbnail menu on the frame is a little slow, and it's tricky at first to manipulate the tiny buttons on the back while looking at the frame from the front to see what you're doing. (However, I know that buttons on the back are much better aesthetically than on the front of the frame.) And it would be nice to have an option to pause the slide-show if you want to look longer at one pic, and then immediately return to the slide show (they way you can in a Windows slide-show). Finally, it would be GREAT to have a removeable battery, so that it could be replaced when it dies.
But those are relatively minor complaints -- I think the frame is really wonderful, and everyone I show it to "oos and aahs" over it -- My hairdresser is ordering one for herself! And this is the only digital frame I've found which has an battery option -- I definitely recommend this!
Amazing Digital Picture Frame June 14, 2008 S. Porter This is the third Phillips digital picture frame I have ordered. All perform excellently with no issues. The picture quality is perfect. This is a superb product if you are looking for a digital frame. I have used other brands and they always have issues or problems. Also I now always order these from Amazon due to the product, price, and great customer service.
Absolute Junk!!!! April 5, 2008 S. D. Taylor (Tampa, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Returned the first one as it completely died within the first week. Second one lasted 1 day. Avoid Phillips digital photo frames. Go with a more affordable and reliable Kodak or other.
