Product Description
A former steak lover himself, Chef Tal struggled for years on a vegan diet that left him hungry and filled with cravings for butter and meat. By applying traditional French culinary techniques to meatless cuisine, he found that he could gratify his cravings for rich flavor and fat. The Conscious Cook shows readers that avoiding the health risks and ethical dilemmas of eating meat and dairy does not mean sacrificing taste and appetite. This is not a cookbook of sprouts and tofu burgers, but of mouth-watering, hearty meals that keep the protein at the center of your plate. Featuring 75 original recipes that will satisfy the fussiest foodies and the most dedicated of carnivores, The Conscious Cook is a breakthrough in meatless cuisine that will revolutionize the way readers experience food.

This is a STUNNING book November 27, 2009 Michelle Hawthorne This is a beautifully written book with wonderful recipes. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to make a positive "Life Change" whether it be ethics, diet or both.
Great Recipe Book November 27, 2009 joejenn (georgia) It has wonderful meals that taste great. My husband who normally is not a healthy eater at all enjoys the meals I cook. Highly recommended.
a wonderful oportunity for all eaters November 26, 2009 Leumi Card Gold (kiryat ono, Israel) A vegan cook book of such a good quality is realy a cause for celebration. It is a very beautiful and very well written book and the recipes are full of professional imagination and innovation. I think it will help meat lovers to try and enjoy veganism and real vegans and vegetarians to better their cuisine. For me as a vegetarian, some of the classic names of the recipes that suggest that those are meatless versions of traditional meaty dishes are a little bit annoying. But in the whole it is a wonderful book and I realy recommend it as a high level vegan cook book.
