30+ years of fighting November 20, 2009

For more than 30 years, Ron Paul warned Americans about the dangers of loose monetary policy and moral hazard.
Since his concerns have been widely justified, he isn't been gloating or bragging. If anything, he seems disappointed, almost sad that his message didn't get through. That's a shame, and says a lot about the man's character.
This book is a great read, and fast. It has some fascinating stories. For example, in 2004 when Paul presented Alan Greenspan with an old essay Greenspan wrote in the 60's explaining how the Federal Reserve system is a "stealth tax". Dr. Paul asked him to sign the piece, and Greenspan immediately did so.
Greenspan told Paul that he had recently re-read the old essay, and wouldn't change a word. That says a lot. In Greenspan's autobiography, he says that his decision to join the Federal Reserve was justified largely by the assumption that one can enact more change from the inside than out. Unfortunately things didn't work out that way.
Ron Paul is a bright spot in the blighted political landscape. Some people object to his religious views, but please don't let this hold you back from reading his books or supporting him. He is a libertarian, and utterly opposed to forcing his personal opinion on others.
He advocates only what he believes to be the best long-term course. He did not go the traditional political route, which is to obtain as much corporate sponsorship as soon as possible.
A Must Read November 19, 2009

This is a must needed eye opening book. In my opinion, every American should read it and start understanding what our government is doing to destroy our nation.
Excellent Book November 19, 2009

This book is excellent and a must read for all. It is written in a manner that assumes some level of understanding of banking, interest rates and money so it might be more difficult to understand for some.
The criticism of the Federal Reserve banking system including blaming them for the boom & bust cycles, and even more important, questioning why the Fed has the power to artificially set interest rates instead of letting them be determined by the free market (this causes the boom & bust cycles) is powerful and right on the money (pun intended).
If you want to better understand the boom & bust cycles of the economy or if you want to better understand why your food bill is up 50% in the last 3 years while still eating the same amount, buy and read this book and learn what causes inflation.
The job of the politician - November 19, 2009

On page 56 of the hardcover edition of the book, Ron Paul explains why he wrote the book: "In my opinion, the political leaders must make the ideology acceptable to the people." And that, in a nutshell, is what this book is about- making the ideology behind revoking the Fed's Charter acceptable to the people.
Does he succeed? Well, I'm convinced, but I was convinced going in, so that's really not a fair test. Did it contain enough strong arguments so that when folks asked what I was reading, they didn't act like I was a fringe-freak but instead said "Huh, I've never thought about it, but that makes a lot of sense?" Yes, yes it did.
Most popular political books these days tend to be strongly partisan- even when they don't need to be. Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascist" for instance- that book, between the covers, is a fantastic and even handed review of the shared roots of the progresso-fascists and the stunning similarities that the contemporary left shares with the fascists of the early part of the 20th century- but the cover is designed to immediately throw anyone off from the left, and make anyone on the right pick it up as just another weapon in the arsenal for the culture wars.
This book is different. Ron Paul (not too sound like an acolyte!) is different. This book is a simple argument to any American that will listen. It is an attempt to instruct and educate, not to score points in some political sports game. On that level, there are not enough stars to give this book.
Who should read this book? Any American concerned about what the government has done to the dollar.
A must read for all Americans.

End The Fed by Ron Paul should be required reading in all public schools. All schools should teach this material. If you want to know what is happening in the country if not the world follow the money. Ron Paul does an excellent job of explaining the secrecy, manipulation and fiat money creation by the Federal Reserve, a private international banking cartel. In business for profit and it is no more federal than FedEx.
