Product Description
pbNothing will break this mother-daughter bond. Not even the truth.brbrbr/bDeborah Monroe and her daughter, Grace, are driving home from a party when their car hits a man running in the dark. Grace was at the wheel, but Deborah sends her home before the police arrive, determined to shoulder the blame for the accident. Her decision then turns into a deception that takes on a life of its own and threatens the special bond between mother and daughter.br briThe Secret Between Us/i is an unforgettable story about making bad choices for the right reasons and the terrible consequences of a lie gone wrong. Once again, Barbara Delinksy has delivered a riveting study of family and a superbly crafted novel, perfectly targeted to reading groups and fans of provocative fiction./p

1 out of 5 stars does this happen in real life..?   November 26, 2008
M.Ball (Huntington Beach, CA)
This book was very unrealistic... I guess there is a possibility of this happening, if you were extremely stupid. br / br /First: I couldn't feel any sort of attachment of any of the characters; they were all either too dumb, too needy, or just not friendly. Jill might be the only character who has her head on her shoulders. She's the only one who knows what she wants and goes after it regardless of what others think (even though she doesn't really disclose all information to everyone all the time). br / br /Second: What kind of Mother would go around lying for her daughter like this? I don't know anyone who would tangle themselves in such lies that this could possibly happen. I mean, I guess it does happen because someone thought of it; but you'd have to be an awful parent ( overall awful person) to let this happen to yourself, your child and your family. br / br /Lastly: I can almost understand the Dad situation, parents can be very judgemental; especially fathers. But to the point of being almost terrified of your own father is just sad. Maybe you shouldn't continue a relationship with a person who treats you your family this way - if they are family - you have to draw the line somewhere. br / br /Overall, I do not recommend this book. I was definitely misled by the current Amazon Ratings and overall Opinions on this book. I strongly suggest reading a different book, this one is not worth your time or money. br / br /

3 out of 5 stars Easy to read   November 1, 2008
Alyssa Szerlip (So Cal)
I have read many of Delinsky's books and loved them. This story was easy to read, but I never felt the empathy for the characters that I should have felt. The story of Poppy the Grandfather never fully developed and also the story with the ex-husband never felt real? It all ended to tidy as many reviewers have pointed out. Barbara is too good a writer to rush the ending like she did. If you want a quick read that is average this is a great book for you, otherwise stay away.

5 out of 5 stars The Secret Between Us   October 5, 2008

This is a very well written book and caught my interest from the first page. Any book by Barbara Delinsky is a good buy. I ordered my book from Amazon.com. I always receive my orders in a timely manner. They let you know when your merchandize is sent and about what time you should receive it.

3 out of 5 stars Looking for Barbara   July 27, 2008

My first Barbara Delinsky book was Lake News and I loved it. Since then I have read all of Ms. Delinsky's current "womans fiction" titles. My favorites being The Passions of Chelsea Kane and Commitments. br / br /But her current book The Secret Between Us and her last Family Tree left me feeling unsatisfied and wanting more. I think what is missing are the strong romantic relationships that she used to create for her main characters. Saying this I must say that I am not a "hard core" romance reader. B. D. made romance part of the story but not the main focus. br / br /The Secret Between Us was a bit slow and tedious. I found myself fustrated with the characters and disappointed by the contrived ending. Especially weird for me was the PO box in another state??? br / br /I'm looking for the return of the type of Barbara Delinsky books that I have come to love and I hope she goes back to creating characters that make me hate to come to the end of the book.
