This Spalding ball is a newer version of the old Spalding TF-1000.
It has the great grip and feel of the old version, but falls a little short.
I feel as though the ball runs slightly on the small side and feels a little more fake than the old version. That being said, it is a really good indoor ball and I have been breaking it in over the past 2 weeks.
The seller reacted quickly to a shipping error and was easy to work with. They were eager to rectify the problem so I give them a 5-star rating.

I wrote a review on the NBA leather basketball, which I feel to be the very best basketball around (once broken in).
After looking around for the reviews of the Spalding ZK Microfiber Composite basketball, I was surprised to see that there were no reviews for the basketball.
For the record, I own the NBA leather basketball and 6 composite leather basketballs. I also have experience with the Baden-Lexum-Elite and the Nike 4005 tournament basketball. These are also composite leather basketballs.
I shoot and play with each ball and after some serious wearing in, I thoroughly believe that this Spalding ZK Microfiber basketball is the best composite basketball you can buy.
Note: All these balls are inflated to 8psi and are all 29.5 inches. Despite this, some balls do feel heavier or wider. The only conclusion is the width or material lining the ball.
The ZK MC ball comes out of the box nice, like other composites and what the leather ball takes a long time to do while not feeling nearly as spongy as most of the other composites out there. I only play indoors with these balls and suggest you do so as well as they aren't designed for outdoor play.
the ZK MC basketball feels excellent out of the box. Just as most balls do. It feels a bit smaller than the NBA leather basketball, which is it's biggest flaw. It is not too spongy which is the fatal flaw of most composite basketballs. It is very durable and maintains it's grip over time. Spalding got it right with this ball. Something they didn't get with their other TF-1000, ZK Pro ball(more on this later). I would say that it is closest thing to a 'real' basketball after playing extensively with a broken in leather NBA basketball. Plus since most recreational players prefer composite basketballs, they will most likely love this ball. Although this ball is not at the top of overall basketballs, it is up near the top. Definitely the best composite ball out there. Now I compare it to the other composites I own and know:
Vs. The NBA Composite Basketball (now discontinued)--- The NBA composite ball comes out of the box with an excellent grip. When it is in good shape, it feels better than the ZK MC ball. However it is not nearly as durable as the ZK MC ball and once it reaches a point of decline, it's steady. Another sign of the decline is that it feels a bit spongier once it gets worn in. Not a good sign in a ball.
Vs. The Wilson basketballs (Solution and Evolution)--- The wilson balls are also very popular. I think they are good backup balls but they are definitely spongier than these other composites (probably a little less than the Nike Tourney ball). What it has going for it is the size is comparable to the NBA leather ball. But if you mix size and excess sponginess, you will be frustrated with it.
Vs. The Baden Lexum Elite --- I would rate this the highest non spalding composite ball . It's not nearly as spongy as the Wilson balls and has a semi-firm layer like the ZK MC ball while coming out the box with a nice grip. The only problem is that it has one of the shortest shelf lives of any of the basketballs. It seemed to slide faster than any other ball listed.
Vs. Nike 4005 tourney ball -- The Nike tourney ball seems smaller than a regulation ball and is quite spongy in comparison to other balls. It probably feels the smallest of any basketball listed at 29.5. It has an excellent grip and due to the ball feeling a bit smaller, players may enjoy playing with a ball they could palm easier. The big negative is that the thick spongy layer also produces long rebounds, which isn't a sign of an elite ball. The Nike ball is very durable, which is one of the best features of the ball.
Vs. the Spalding ZK Pro--- I am unsure but I believe the ZK Pro was more expensive than the ZK MC ball at one time. I believe that many people are confused because one may believe that one ball is the older, discontinued model. As of right now, I see both of these balls in the store. If you search "TF-1000" on Amazon, the ZK Pro ball comes up first. It's a shame. The ZK Pro is a decent ball. It is incredibly durable and the size of the ball feels comparable to the NBA leather basketball. The only problem with the ball is that it feels as spongy as the Wilson balls, which again, provide long rebounds for decent shots.
Despite the ZK Microfiber ball being 10-15 dollars more than it's ZK-Pro counterpart, it is still a great value.
When you consider that these other balls range from $40-$60, your money will be best spent on this basketball.
As I said in the NBA leather basketball review, if you want the best, spend more on the NBA leather basketball. After some patience with the leather basketball, you will have a hard time going back to composites. However, this is a great consolation ball. You won't have to go through the break-in phase as it comes out of the box in excellent shape. It's definitely the best composite leather basketball I have played with.
