Amazon.com Product Description The daily movements you make can have beneficial effects on your health. That's one of many reasons to opt for the innovative, easy-to-use Polar FA20 men's activity watch, which tracks your everyday activities to help calculate your overall fitness level. The FA20 is packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals. The 24/7 Activity Measurement mode registers all the effective active motion you perform on a daily basis and converts it into digital data. After integrating such information as your age, gender, height, and weight, the FA20 then calculates your daily active time, calories burned, active steps, distance, and more. The function is ideal for people who walk or jog a fair amount and want to find out how all their activities add up. The watch also offers a recording option that tracks both your total distance and your calorie expenditure for a single workout, a weekly time period, and as a percentage of your total fat. You can save up to 100 total exercise files with full summaries. And, of course, the FA20 offers all the traditional watch features, including a 12/24-hour clock with an alarm and snooze, a date and weekday indicator, and a low battery indicator. As a bonus, once you settle into a routine, you can synch your watch with www.polarpersonaltrainer.com--an online exercise journal and community that provides guidance, tracks progress and goals, and lets users challenge their friends (the watch includes a Polar FlowLink connection for digital information transfers). Other details include water-resistance to 30 meters, a backlight for easy viewing in dark conditions, and a KeyLock. Sporting an attractive black housing, the watch carries a two-year warranty. About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

| Customer Reviews: Polar Activity Watch - Fantastic September 6, 2009 Ericka H. Otterson (Minneapolis, MN) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Polar FA20 Activity Computer Watch tracks daily activity and measures that activity for health benefits. The product logs regular activity and can be set to measure a specific workout. Additional accessories may be purchased but I haven't found that to be necessary.
Great quality!!!! June 3, 2009 Javier C. Cardoso (los angeles) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
for starters like me was impressive, really easy to use and the link to the computer is indispensable, you need it if you want to take advantage of the polar.com site. Not for daily use in the gym, but is really good for outdoor walking or running.
Rather pricey for what is basically a wrist-mounted pedometer December 13, 2008 J. Mijares (San Francisco, CA) 21 out of 23 found this review helpful
Okay, so I've been using this for over a month now and feel it's now time to review it.
What I like about it:
1) It's a nice watch which also has a nice feel to it, not like my Polar S725X Pro Team Tour de France Edition Heart Rate Monitor Watch with Free Cadence Sensor which is huge and bulky.
2) The watch is intentionally not sensitive to movements. I've discovered that I need to be walking for at least 20 seconds before it even registers that I'm walking. I think this is a smart thing because if you're at work and you get up and go to the printer or to the restroom (which for me is less than 50 feet away) then that's really not considered sustained walking. Also, you have to be walking for at least one full minute before the watch will even log it as one minute of walking.
3) This watch is very conservative with the calories. The calorie count is less than when I use my heart rate monitor. I rank this as a plus because often we don't burn as many calories as we think while walking based on our intensity, etc.
4) This watch tracks walking and jogging fairly well. It knew when I was doing both.
What I don't like about it:
1) Referencing the sensitivity of the watch, I've also noticed that when I come to a complete stop, the watch still thinks I'm walking and will show the walking animation for about 20 seconds. I think the 20 seconds is the key to its sensitivity. The watch is sensitive enough to realize when I stand up though.
2) When I have it track a specific activity, like walking, the miles displayed are very inaccurate. It consistently came in at 0.2 miles less than what my actual miles covered. I don't think that's a good thing at all, especially if you need to walk a certain distance every day. What I don't understand is why Polar doesn't let you adjust the length of your stride, which is what you can do with its other watches that work with the footpods.
3) Price! This is a really expensive watch! $100+ for basically what amounts to a fancy pedometer.
I'll continue using mine because I think that benefits definitely outweigh the cost, but I'd recommend waiting until the price drops down to something more reasonable. I paid way too much for mine so I'm going to get as much use out of it as possible.
