About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program. What's in the Box? Schwinn 213 Recumbent Exercise July 21, 2009 Jimbob This bike exceeded my expectations. It's nearly silent My only complaints are the fan is a waste of time and effort, After all is said and done, this bike is the best on the market for the price. The plusses are a plenty. The number of preprogrammed routines are adequate. Above all, the comfort of the seat is the best I've experienced in a club or otherwise, the stability is fantastic, and the heart rate monitor is very effective. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for a premium home exercise device. This bike combined with free weights equates to an unparalleled home workout. Enjoy.
Great value, but computer console needs a silent mode. June 29, 2009 G. Gibbs The Schwinn Model 230 is a great value. I've had mine for 5 months and am very pleased. I would like to ride it first thing in the morning before my wife awakens, but the computer makes several audible beeps to prompt you as you select the desired program. I may resort to taking the console apart and installing sound insulation around the beeper. It would be nice if computer had a silent mode.
I love my bike!! May 8, 2009 Janna (Delaware) I've had my bike for almost 2 years now and it works as good as the first day I bought it! It's not as fancy as a bike you would use at a professional gym, but it is great to use at home, fairly easy to put together, and gets the job done. Very happy with it!!
Lasted about a year. January 17, 2009 Jonathan Chicoine This was actually great while it lasted. I used it 4 or 5 times a week, and did 15-20 miles a day, sometimes more. It was very quiet. Eventually, it started displaying the dreaded E-2 error, and then that was it would display, and was then no longer usable.
After months of use, it's still like new May 25, 2008 Jo in Sugar Land (Sugar Land TX) This is certainly a "best buy" for your "exercise" budget. Well made, stable, and heavy.
