Amazon.com Product Description
Combining stylish looks with heart rate monitoring features, this larger Timex Personal Heart Rate Monitor watch (model T5G971) can be worn by both men and women. It features a chest strap heart rate monitor, easily accessible function buttons, durable resin case, and comfortable resin strap with a stylish tapered profile. For integrating heart rate monitoring into your training, this watch enables you to continuously track your heart rate during exercise as well as pre-set target heart rate zones with alarms that notify you when you are out of the zone. It also offers an automatic activity timer and a workout review that recalls activity time and average/peak heart rates. This streamlined watch also has a month/day/date display with 12/24-hour time.

The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet), which protects it from rain and water splashes. All Timex heart rate monitor sensors have batteries that can be replaced by consumers without requiring them to be returned to the manufacturer.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   November 23, 2009
Willard Smith (DC)
I bought this item to replace a Nike heart rate monitor. I don't like the Timex much because it's less solid than my previous watch (plastic feel) and has a lot less flexibility/fewer functions. It does estimate how many calories you've burned. If that's all your after, it could be a good choice.

4 out of 5 stars Good watch   November 23, 2009
Penny!
My boyfriend and I both use this monitor both running and at the gym and it tells us everything that we need to know. If you're looking for something that will keep track of your progress, look elsewhere as this monitor only deals with one workout at a time (if you start a workout, the previous session details erase). Also, if you have small wrists, the band may be too large for you. I wish this one had one more hole...

5 out of 5 stars Kids Toy   November 22, 2009

Heart Rate feature only worked occasionaly. May have just been battery but they shouldn't send them out with old battery. Watch band looked very cheap. The plastic band will not last long.

4 out of 5 stars Keeps HR accurately, and helps in bike training   November 16, 2009
SJ (Il, USA)
I have used this product over the last 2 months, as a training tool for mountain biking. It has been keeping my HR without any issues, allowing me to use HR zones as a motivating tool. Pretty cool watch - also water-proof. My wife also uses it while walking, to check calories burned. Good buy.

4 out of 5 stars Great monitor!   November 16, 2009
Jane (Chicago, IL USA)
I bought this heart rate monitor a few weeks ago to help aid my workouts. Personally, I was most interested in the calorie burning feature. I picked this monitor because I have had good fortune with other Timex products, the reviews were good, and this monitor allowed me to put in my weight for a more accurate reading.

Overall, I really love this product. I am able to use it for my own interests, and appreciate that there are tons of other options that I can utilize if I decide to do so in the future (such as alarms for going below a certain heart rate). I have had no problem getting the sensors to work, and have no other issues with the watch.

The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the lack of instructions. The instructions are very step by step for most settings. However, the manual does not tell you how to set your weight. I am not all that electronically inclined, but I was able to figure it out after fiddling with the buttons for a few minutes. If I remembered what I did, I would post it. I think I had to hit the recall button. Anyway, it didn't end up being that difficult to figure out, but it is a problem.

I highly recommend this product.
