Adequate with some re-engineering November 27, 2009 James Sianis (North Carolina) Like others I thought this was a great idea, but their execution was a bit short. I did some re-engineering and I am using this with a Leaf Cycler. Like others, I had a problem with it staying on a round trash receptacle. If it wasn't blowing off, mulched leaves were squirting out of the sides. Fortunately, I bought Toro's receptacle and ironically enough there is no problem with the canvas popping off. Haven't had any problems with clogging and I have put it through some paces. If you aren't the "re-engineering" type then I would not recommend it. If you are handy and don't mind fiddling with things to make them suit your needs then it is worth it.
Not great but works as advertised November 27, 2009 Chuck As indicated in the other reviews the product has a few flaws, but once we securely attached the hose to the cloth cover with a zip-tie that solved that problem. As with other users it is really hard to attach the cloth cover and keep attached to a trash can, but we attached it to one of those lawn bag funnels. The extreme cone shape made it impossible for the bag to slip off.
Using this really does require 2 people on eto suck up the leaves and one to hold the bag and move it as needed.
Yes there is dust, but the whole process is dusty. If you are worried about dust, you probably should stick to just picking up the leaves by hand. or better yet pay someone to do it. :-)
This product definitely leaves room for improvement (no pun intended), but definitely made or very large leaf problem much easier to deal with.
Same experience as everyone else November 24, 2009 Keetjie Ramo Nothing new here--just want to add my review to the others that score this product junk. After trying several different ways to hold the sheet on the collapsible Toro barrel or keep the hose attached to the sheet, I gave up. As a fairly resourceful 65 year-old woman with a disability, I didn't have the patience to try ingenious fixes such as duct tape; I simply assumed at first that I was doing something wrong. But after reading the directions several times, couldn't find any subtle hints I might have missed the first time. I suppose that I'll try to rig a fix, but in the meantime,Toro should pull this from the market and Amazon should stop selling it.
Eh, it works, but eh... November 23, 2009 B. Spencer (Central NY) First off, I should mention I used this on my gas-powered Troy-Bilt blower/vac; this has the blower (vac output) "in-line" with the vacuum, not at 90° like most electrics, so the fitment makes me stay right next to the garbage can. The fitment of the "universal" adapter is pretty off, as my vac has a large square output, and this has a round attachment with foam to make up the difference. Also, the "quick connect" tab and groove arrangement didn't make it through the season - the "lock" that the tab snaps into broke, so I had to drill holes, and hold it together with self-tapping screws (and therefore carry a screwdriver with me in case it clogs).
I had to zip-tie the other end of the hose to the canvas top - this should've been done from the factory. And you really have to crank on the drawstring to keep the canvas top from blowing off the garbage can.
Overall, it's OK, and it does the job, but I had to "modify" it to get it to do the job right.
Great idea, well made, but slow November 22, 2009 Aktrom (Utica, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this product hoping it would ease the process of cleaning the yard each fall. I own the Toro elecrtric blower to which this attaches. I usually blow the fallen leaves into a big pile around a large tree and then transfer them into large waste receptacles for transport to the green waste recycling center. The leaf collector attachment does indeed chop the leaves well and thereby reduces the volume of debris, but the vacuum process is so very slow. The bag attaches well to your own receptacle. I instead use a large salad tongs like tool to do this and the process is so much more efficient, but I have to deal with greater volumes of debris for transport. I have only used this product once as my other method is so much more efficient. I would say that this product is effective for occasional use or regular use with smaller amounts of leaf debris; for a major cleanup, patience is definitely a virtue.
