Editorial Review
Capitalizing on the princess passion so many young girls harbor these days, the folks at Universal Studios and Mattel have developed a veritable princess bonanza with the "Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses" dolls and DVD. Not to be confused (or linked too closely) with the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name, this story deals with a dozen princesses who are taught royal etiquette by a duchess who does not believe in fun and games. Genevieve (played by that star of stage and screen, Barbie) and her sisters find a way to bring dancing and joy back into their lives. The glamorous Genevieve doll is sure to spark hours of imaginary playtime among girls, whether they've seen the movie or not. Genevieve's skirt is a froth of pink and gold that actually spins and lights up! Her adorable little kitten accompanies Genevieve/Barbie, and is decked out in her own rose-colored gown and gold crown. Requires two "AAA" batteries (not included). Other sisters are sold separately. --Emilie Coulter

2 out of 5 stars weird   March 25, 2009
Big Mama Margie (Savannah, Georgia)
This toy is strange because when you press a button on her leg, her skirt spins around and lights up. The skirt gets hung up easily. I think this is gimmicky. My daughter (6) loves the 12 Dancing Princesses movie but prefers to play with regular Barbie's and never chooses this one.

Really good quality as you would expect with Barbie. She spins and lights up, lots of fun!

All I can say, is that my little sister....lover of all things princess.....LOVED this doll! I didn't even know it spun around and could light up, but that function worked great too!

My little girl loves this doll especially since she got the movie to go with it from Santa!!

4 out of 5 stars My daughter sure does like it.........   March 11, 2007

She loves that it lights up and seems to really enjoy playing with it (she's 3). I think it is a nice looking doll though I do find it a bit strange that the skirt twirls around.........then again, it IS afterall a toy and need not be realistic to be fun. No the clothes are not removable....making her one of the only Barbies in my daughters collection that isn't naked. ;) As far as Twila goes I thought she looked like the one in the movie. My daughter would have rather it not have a string like an ornament though.
