5 out of 5 stars Family values   November 25, 2009

Boy, I sure feel better. Oh, Hi there. I didn't see you come in. But now that you're here, let's talk about Scrabble Slam!

I just got done playing a round with the wife and kids and while it wasn't long before we gravitated from slamming our cards on the table in that first rush of healthy-feeling anger to actually pummeling one another right in the face, it's great exercise. Sure, we're all bruised up for a few days after, but it's a good kind of pain; it's a visual reminder that we always have each other rain or shine ... or shiner!

It's also taught the old battle axe that four-letter words are OK, so we can all gather around and watch Tarantino flicks together, which is so much better than "The Sound of Music" for the 50th time. It's very liberating, I must say. And just between you and me, I can't wait until the in-laws stop by for the holidays!

4 out of 5 stars very good for phonics practice   November 21, 2009

I tutor kids with dyslexia and AD/HD and teach them phonics (Orton-Gillingham). I am always looking for ways to spice up a lesson. So far I haven't found a kid who doesn't like practicing vowel teams, silent-e and consonant blends using this game. I modify it and we take turns, and I help them make their words. This can be a very helpful educational game for kids and adults who need to practice their phonics skills!

2 out of 5 stars Still not sure   November 10, 2009

It doesnt say how many cards to pass out, so we used them all which makes a lot of cards to sort through. You get stuck a lot and not as fast moving as you think it might be. Probably wont get played much

this game looked like great fun on tv so bought it. They are to be gifts so haven't played yet. We love games so I think it will be a winner. Can't give a fair rating yet though.

5 out of 5 stars An awesome family game for 6 to 99 years of age!   October 26, 2009

I have an 8 year old, 10 year old, and 17 year old at home. My husband and I play this game with all three kids and we have so much fun we end up rolling on the floor laughing! This game gets unbelievably fast! People start screaming and slamming letters and yelling words! My 8 year old daughter has a hard time keeping up with my teenage son plays but she still loves it and laughs the whole time! We keep the iphone handy so we can look up words on [...] when we get in a spot where nothing seems to work. Most of the time that doesn't happen, unless my teenage son picks a word.. like aged. Anyway.. we love this game and highly recommend it! We are going to see if it works to put two decks together and double the people (10) at Christmas time. Will be interesting to see how crazy it gets with my grown daughters and my son-in-laws. As far as educational value, I've even learned words. If you get in a bind you end up making up a work and half the time, it's a real word and i read the definition aloud so everyone knows it for the rest of the game. You MUST get this game!
