5 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Christmas "specials."   December 11, 2005

My favorite part of this episode is when Rocko goes to the mall, and you suddenly hear a dry, Russian voice say, "Bring the children to Fruitcake Man. I love the children." Then it cuts to this human-sized fruitcake with a red cape sitting on a throne. Somebody plops a kid (a squirrel?) on his lap, and Fruitcake Man says, "Go on. Take a gift. I feel nothing." The kid starts to cry, and Fruitcake Man goes, "No, no, no, no, no. Shhh... shhhh..." Out of nowhere, the kid bites Fruitcake Man's cheek off, causing Fruitcake Man to wail in agony, then fall off the throne. For a split second, you can see the kid take a few chews of Fruitcake Man's cheek while it's in his mouth.

Classic, hilarious moment. Get this if you can find it.

"I need the SCISSOOOOOOOORRRRRRSSSS!"

Have you ever noticed how underrated shows are funnier or better than overrated shows? Well, this is the case. This was one of the greater rocko episodes, if not all of them were great.Heck, this is one of the best cartoons I have ever seen,it is one of my favorites. I would watch it religously. Joe Muarray is a genius. Speaking of which, Muarray has a new show on cartoon network called Camp Lazlo.I personally have fallen in love with the show and hope that it makes it like spongebob(another show I like, but is a bit overrated)When I say "make it", I mean, it doesn't go off the air like most of the shows have.I was also really surprised a show by Joe Muarray would be on cartoon network. Probably becasue nickeldoen had too much crap on TV, so they couldn't air it. I have a good feeling about it. Well, back to rocko...
I'm really sorry, but since they took the wallaby of the air full time, I can't remeber a lot of the episode, or the episodes in that matter. That is why Nickelodeon needs to wake up and get started on a DVD release. That is just one of the shows that deserves a DVD release. As for all Grown up, Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron-can it. Those shows aren't that great, and I won't regret not buying a DVD of those shows either. Nickelodeon-Rocko's Modern Life deserves a DVD set and YOU know it!

ps. I love Camp Lazlo, but I still think Rocko is better.

5 out of 5 stars Thank you to Santa's forgotten elves   July 13, 2004

I absolutely agree that John Kricfalusi revolutionized all things animation with Ren and Stimpy. The thing that clenches that proof is how terribly his imitators have messed up cartoons. But there is another oft-overlooked pioneer who is also widely imitated, Joe Murray. Rocko's Modern Life revolutionized cartoons by cleaning up animation. You need only watch a Rocko episode to see the beautiful visual art, the unique camera angle shots, the changes in pace, the potshots at popular culture and Americana so familiar from The Simpsons, the witty, but not overdone dialog. Joe Murray can have Rocko get a cold, yak, and then the spew jump out of the throne, dance around and nurse him back to health. His imitators think you can make a cartoon funny by throwing in fart jokes. They don't write for the characters, the story doesn't proceed from the characters, and their characters don't do what those particular characters would do. Hence the ruination of not only cartoons but live action comedies as the same bad writers go from studio to studio "fixing" things by writing in fart jokes. But every animator I've ever read has said, "go to Joe Murray and learn from the Master," and cartoon fans are instinctively drawn to the adventures of Rocko. Rocko exemplifies Chesterton's adage that extraordinary things only happen to ordinary people, and the wallaby's holiday episode is one of the few cartoons that make the cut for repeated annual viewing. So where's Rocko on DVD?

Rocko Rules! They need to get this back on Nick. This episode is a cult classic in our home. My husband and I love Rocko and this Christmas special is so funny. If you enjoy an obscure sense of humor, then order any and all Rocko shows. I am glad Amazon is carrying them!

Rocko is planning to have a Christmas party. A bunch of Little Elves had moved in across the street to Rocko. While Rocko is Christmas shopping, he notices one of them following him, he talks to it and brings it back to it's house.

He invites the elves to come to his Christmas Party. It is overheard by a neighbor. He spreads it and the word gets out & nobody wants to go to the party because they are afraid to catch diseases by the "Swarm of Diseased Trolls" (this is what the story ended up as, as it was spread, [the ELVES are not really diseased]).

The Elves find out and.... The Rest you'll have to see in the episode to find out :)

It's wonderful, Recommended for all ages! Someone else's review said not recommended for younger children, but I don't see why not,

Great For all Ages!!!
