Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Excellent Teaching Resource   June 21, 2009

This book is an excellent teaching resource to be used for middle school music students to help them define and compare rhythms for both classical and jazz idioms.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent learning tool   June 12, 2000

As a child, I studied music, but I wanted to brush up on my music theory. This video presents classical and jazz music theory in a very accessible way.

Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite and Duke Ellington's arrangement of the same are used to illustrate different aspects of music. Marsalis uses visual aids that tie the music theory to everyday aspects of life.

This is a great video for kids and adults to learn more about the music that they are appreciating.
