Amazon.com Fable 2 is the anticipated sequel to the popular original that sold more than 3 million copies. Created by famed game designer Peter Molyneux, Fable 2 for Xbox 360 features an epic story that picks up 500 years after the first game. It offers an open world environment giving players a massive amount of freedom to explore and play as they please, with every decision made contributing to the game itself. | Fable 2 Players: Offline: 1-2 Online: 2
Gameplay Modes: Single player, offline cooperative multiplayer, online cooperative multiplayer. | | |
The new combat system lets you master different fighting styles. View larger. |
You are free to roam the world of Albion any way you like. View larger. | Every Choice Has Its Consequences Fable 2 provides players with a truly immersive experience where a virtually limitless number of choices can be made, all of which have their own consequences, making each game unique. When you start the game, you choose either to play the role of a boy or girl, and depending on your choices, the hero will grow up to be tall or short, good or evil. Players can get married and have children; female player characters will become pregnant, which will then be reflected by their physical appearance. Early in the game, players are presented with a stray dog for a best friend, who will need to be fed and loved, and will accompany the player throughout his or her life. Depending on the player, the dog will change appearance and assist him or her in various ways, such as alerting of impending dangers and attacking enemies. Players inhabit the world of Albion and are free to roam the land to as they please. Players can use different expressions to communicate with others, such as taunting and laughing, and even belching or farting. As the players grow, so does Albion, reflecting the choices that were made earlier in the game. Every house, hut, castle, and dungeon can be purchased if the player wishes. Players can buy up all the land in a town and can become mayor, king, and even emperor of the entire land. Fable 2 presents a dynamic and free-roaming world that doesn't demand a player to take any one set path. At the same time, players seeking a plot line will find an epic story and quest that they can follow if they wish, along with many side adventures. Fight Using Different Weapons and Magic Fable 2 introduces a new combat system that allows for mastery of hand weapons, such as swords, long range weapons such as cross-bows and guns, and, of course, magic. Players improve at each discipline with time, and can combine different combat styles when they fight. Other advanced design features include tactical positional advantages that can bring new strategic elements into combat. Bring Other Players into Your World Fable 2 has a multiplayer mode that allows you to bring other players into your own world. Consistent with the rest of the game, the actions of these other players can be permanent and affect your world. You can explore and fight together with these other players, share treasures, and even fight each other. Note: Fable 2 will not ship with Online Co-op mode. An update with this functionality is rumored to be released shortly after the launch of the game. Xbox LIVE Arcade Mini-Games Gamers can play minigames through Xbox LIVE Arcade and earn currency that can be used in Fable 2 to purchase weapons, armor, and other items for the hero. Fable 2 is rated M for having mature content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older.
Depending on your choices, the protagonist can turn out wildly different -- male, female, good, evil, and more.

Good sequel, but wasn't quite what I hoped. November 17, 2009 D. Depweg (I haven't tried the expansions so these are just a few thoughts on Fable 2 main content only.)
While it is a great improvement over Fable, I was disappointed when I finally played this game. Fable 2 is larger and allows for more play time than the original, however...
*Gold, easy to get, so what do we do with our Millions? Once you buy all the Shops/Houses, then what?
*Weapons. Nice array of weapons, I do like the use of guns and crossbows.
The "best" of them are quite expensive, but buy a few shops, don't play for a day or 2, and you'll have the gold in no time. (Gold is earned even if you aren't playing)
Augments on the weapons to make them stronger/better. I do enjoy the feature, but why can't we socket new augments over old ones? You get a nice weapon, don't like the augments it came with? Too bad.
The main reasons for my disappointment;
*"Open World" Well, kinda. If your thinking World of Warcraft or Fallout 3, no.
You can run a little ways then hit the "no farther" mountains, rocks, trees ect.
*Co-op, play with your friends and complete quests. Not really. They show up as a henchman, and you really can't get too far away from each other. Your locked to using the same screen. Your friend can't be off killing some town and ask you to come over and help. Such potential, and yet they seemed to just over look all it could have been.
*The controls seem "clunky", often frustrated with the character movement. I am running into objects, getting stuck on nothing, a simple step for many games is an obstacle for this one. You can jump over a fence, but try to go up steps from the side, and you can't.
This all seems negative but I did enjoy the game.
I'm just offering a little of my perspective for future buyers.
(maybe even developers)
If you liked Fable, Fable 2 is for you. If you want to run with your buddies beating stuff up? Maybe another game.
So much fun for so long November 17, 2009 Stuart Williams (Fair Oaks, CA USA) I shudder to think about how much time I sunk into this game. Seriously. Its FRP crack. But mostly it is a lot of fun. If you like role-playing games on the XBOX, I think you will enjoy this one. BTW: In Fable I am a King now, so be nice.
Absolute favorite game. November 15, 2009 Miss Lily This game's reviews really depend on who you ask. If you're one of those hardcore, action, heavy-fighting loving gamers, this game might not be for you, but if you're into the homey feel, lovable characters, and fantasy RPG games, then this might become your favorite game. It certainly is mine and I've had yet to find another game to amount to it (still looking).
PROS:
- The graphics are simply astounding and the voices are so accurate to the characters' personalities.
- Every character (except yourself) has a voice.
- You can look however you want.
- You can either play the main plot, the side stories, or live your own life in Albion.
- The. Characters. Are. AMAZING. I adore Garth and Hammer beyond BELIEF.
- Heart-string tugging referrences to the first game and the Hero's childhood.
- The fact that you don't need to play the first game to understand everything.
- Amazing backstory and game legends that will have you entertained, obsessed, and reading more for days and weeks after playing.
- The ability to completely go off the beaten trail and explore all corners of each map.
- Buy a house, decorate it, get married (to as many people as you want), and have children! You can even name your spouse (gender doesn't matter) or your kid and decide what gender your kid is (if you find out how).
CONS:
- Disappointingly short...
- Inability to talk to other characters.
- Inability to see your fellow heroes after finishing the game or returning to the Spire.
- It can jerk and freeze a bit, but not too much.
- If you're sensitive, you might cry for some of the sad stories in the game. For example, Oakvale's common reoccurance, Terry Cotter's Army, Rose, etc.
All in all, I adore this game. I like my easy-going, day-to-day games with graphics. The scenery changes: for example, it rains in certain maps, the trees and grass noticably sway in the breeze, the ocean waves crash against the shore, etc. It has many creatures and Lionheart didn't get lazy in any of the design. It adds in subtle funny things and plot twists. Myself, I have spent days on Fable's wiki page to learn more about every interesting nook and cranny of the game.
Definitely worth the money. You can learn how to make the story extend if you don't rush through it and enjoy it.
Good or bad, you decide. November 5, 2009 Lance (California) This game is entertaining, especially with the choice options. You can choose to be bad, good, or somewhere in-between. Not for minors. There can be sexual situations (hetero- and homo-), obscene gestures, and alcohol consumption. Players choice, of course.
Totally satisfied November 1, 2009 Pilar Joe Mata Jr. (California) I ordered this game for my brother and I wasn't expecting to receive it for at least one week. To my surprise, it was here in two days! Also, it was in perfect condition.
