Amazon.com Product Description
Since its inception, Xbox 360 has set the pace for digital entertainment. That pace has now been quickened with the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console. Along with features standard in all Xbox Elite consoles, the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console comes with an exclusive design inspired by the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a copy of the standard edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360, two black Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers and a massive 250GB Hard Drive, making it both a true value and collector’s item for Xbox 360 and Call of Duty fans alike. The Console Designed with artwork inspired by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, this limited edition console measures 11.5 x 11.8 x 7.5 inches and is less than eight pounds. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries 512MB of GDDR3 SDRAM, a custom ATI graphics processor and 10MB of integrated video memory. This makes it powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, users can expect great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better graphics quality when used with HDTV 1080i televisions thanks to the console's built-in HDMI port*. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format. The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. Game, exclusive console, 2 controllers and 250GB drive in one bundle. View larger. | Exciting new 'Call of Duty' action. View larger. | Full Xbox LIVE support. View larger. | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter and the sixth entry in the popular Call of Duty series. True to its name and following the lead of its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it places players in modern combat settings, as opposed to the WWII environments of the earlier Call of Duty games. This modern approach brings with it new weapons, action and options. Coupled with a variety of gameplay modes including single player, multiplayer and a co-op Ops Mode, it is destined to be one of the most popular games of 2009 and a worthy addition to the Call of Duty series. Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drive In modern console gaming hard drive size is an ever growing concern. Solid Xbox with slight room for improvment November 25, 2009 Joseph Maiz (Philadelphia, PA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For those that were wondering about a 'special edition' xbox, take it from me- This would be my second console of a special edition and my 3rd xbox - by far, the best one yet to invest in.
Two factors made me get this one:
1- It's a JASPER; whats that?? Its the smaller cpu chips on the motherboard of the console. This results in a cooler xbox, and thus a longer lifespan and less power usage. The Red Ring of Death (RROD) issues should not be seen here for a long time. this also runs smoother, takes less power, and makes less noise.
2- When I looked at this deal and compared it to the elite, this is what I came to conclusion: For $300, The elite for $100 less than this version, but is missing one controller and the game MW2. Because the game is $60 currently and a controller is $40, that makes up the difference in price. What you gain is a larger hard drive for free (250gb vs 120gb).
If you do not want the game and have no need for a second controller, stick to the elite, but by all means, get this xbox if you want the game and a second controller- best bang-for-your-buck.
Now the downside: No HD cable. It sucks, but last special edition xbox's were the Resident Evil and the Halo3 xbox had them included:
Resident evil came with:
# Limited Edition Red Xbox 360 Elite System
# 120GB hard drive
# Xbox 360 Headset (black, wired)
# Resident Evil 5 game
# Red Wireless Controller
# HDTV-ready component HD AV cable
# HDMI cable
# Ethernet cable
# Token card that allows you to download Super Street Fighter ll Turbo HD Remix AND exclusive Resident Evil Premium Theme via Xbox Live
Halo3 verison came with:
* Halo 3 Special Edition Console
* Halo 3 Special Edition Wireless Controller
* Halo 3 Special Edition 20GB Hard Drive
* Halo 3 Special Edition Wired Headset
* Halo 3 Special Edition Gamer Pics and Theme (Exclusive download via Xbox LIVE)
* Component HD AV Cable
* Ethernet Cable
* HDMI Port
* Play & Charge Kit
* Xbox LIVE Silver Membership
* One-month Xbox LIVE Gold Membership
Both special editions came with an HD cable to hook up with, while the new MW2 version does not. Halo version was another 'almost hit', lacking the game Halo3. The RE version was better, but had only one controller- not a big deal.
In the end, having the game and two controllers for me was the way to go; If you want the HD cable, you need to buy it, but otherwise, this is the console to get today (11/20/09) vs the Elite xbox.
Awesome Xbox 360 Bundle November 25, 2009 Nicholas A. Manzolina (Centereach, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is probably the best collectors edition Xbox 360 I have seen so far. My first Xbox 360 died after 3 years so I went out and purhcased this console. It comes with 2 wireless controllers, headset, 250GB Hard Drive, and built in HDMI. The price is perfect because you are saving money when you buy it as a bundle and you get more for what you pay. The biggest dissapointment is no HDMI cable but thanks to www.amazon.com you can get a cable for 3$.
I recommend this bundle to anyone shopping for the holiday season because it comes with one of the best online shooter games ever made.
Time for an upgrade November 25, 2009 V. Racanelli (Nashville , tn United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bascially decided to pick this up for two reasons.
1. My wife yes my wife was hogging the console for Netflix, movies and the occasional game. She was addicted to Fable 2.
2. I've had the old Pro version for almost 3 years and I was tired of deleting stuff off of my hard drive in order to make room for a new game I just loaded.
3. This was a great deal.
Consider this a standard elite console is $299.99, a copy of MW2 is 59.99 and an additional controller is 49.99 add those to the price and guess what it's higher than the cost of this. So look at it this way you basically get the bonus of a 250 Gb hard drive for free.
To be totally honest as cool as the console looks in person it's not as awesome in person because It doesn't have as much of a gun metal look as I had hoped but that's okay because I'm more concerned about the hard ware.
It does run cooler way cooler than my old one and even the DVD drive is quieter. Is it as quiet as my PS3 no but it's close. A good buy lower power consumption and much more quiet. Just think MS if you had released this product in this format 2 years ago Sony would be toast because all of their advantages have been hardware based and this is the best I've seen on the market from Microsoft for hardware. It's not enough to make a PS3 owner want to switch but It's a better deal than the PS3 250 gb version that's out for those out there who can't decide.
Best xbox deal ever! November 20, 2009 W. freeman (fairmont, wv) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Anyone who loves 360 or call of duty modern warfare should pick this up, if you can afford it and want rid of your own system its even worth it to trade in your old system get some store credit, and just get it. The system itself looks killer, with some different military syle grey writing on it, and around the power switch. Two black controlers, MW2 game, and basically a free 250gig hard drive!! Why do i say free? Well. Your getting a controller, which is around 50 bucks new, and the game which is 63 bucks with tax, so that takes you to about 400+ dollars, which is the price of the system. So yeah, the hard drives worth, when or if they decide to sell is separately would probably be around 200 or 250 bucks i'd bet, so you basically arent paying a dime for it:) Its the same ole good xbox just fancyed up with a cool look and the extra contents. But the hard drive for you hard core arcade, movie, demo and games on demand fans is definitely the biggest selling point of this system. Go out and get the elite with the 120gb drive plus the game, and controller, and your talking the same price or more, with a smaller hard drive, not nearly as good a deal. So if you have the money, better get this one, because once its gone, its gone for good. Rumors says about 2 more weeks, then done, the overstock might go online, but stores will not carry them. Also there is no guarantee yet that they will release the 250gb drive. So jump on this killer deal while you can. Also MW2 is great on 360, i had it for my PS3 and traded it in, looked awful, and the online was pathetic. The graphics on the xbox are as usual, crisp, colorful, great detailing, and probably pretty close to 1080p i would say, considering thats the output of my LCD, unfortunately you really can't tell with console games, wish they would read out the actually resolution they are putting out. Oh well. This is just a killer deal, so don't pass it up, it won't return.
Love this thing! November 19, 2009 E. Smith (Glen Burnie, md United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The ONLY negative that I have to say about this is that it didn't come with a data transfer kit to move data from your old 360 to your new one. You have to purchase the new one by calling XBOX360 customer support (or going on line) and its a $12 charge. BUT they were all out and didn't know when they were getting more in. So I painstakingly re-downloaded all my content after transferring my license. It took 3 days, but the beauty of it, I was able to do it from the xbox360 site. So everything downloaded fine and this XBOX360 is the bomb. Now with he bigger hard-drive, I can download those XBOX original games. Plus you can install the MW2 on the 360 and play it from the hard-drive (you still need the disc to act as a catalyst). The reason you want to do this is that in the long run, it saves the wear and tear on the XBOX because the disc isn't constantly running.
As far as the game itself, it is difficult on any level which I really like. You will die a lot, one of the coolest thing is to ride the snowmobile. So single play is very very good and multi-play is awesome (even though I get smoked alot). I like the design of the box itself and it seems quieter than my previous system.
399.00 is a great price considering you are getting 2 controllers, the game and 250GB HD, headset and the system. It doesn't come with a HDMI cable, but you can get one of those cheap nowadays. And the wireless controllers are not the rechargeable kind. So you are going to have to buy an extra battery pack if you don't already have one. Its good to be consistent and buy the black rechargeable packs.
The XBOX360 as a whole w/XBOX Live is far more enjoyable than the PS3, in my humble opinion. Because if you have netflix, with the 360 you can put movies in your instant cue and watch them immediately, with no disc to insert (unlike the PS3). And they just added last.fm, facebook, twitter and zune.
In the end, if buy a lot of content from the XBOX Live Marketplace, than this is the system you want, the 250GB, if not, you can't go wrong with 120GB xbox-360.
