5 out of 5 stars Great tool, but you can pay less for same accuracy   May 20, 2009
G. Conner (USA)
Like others, I too revere the consistent accuracy of my Starrett tools and cannot say anything bad about them, except for the price.

In this particular (and rare) case, you can get the same accuracy with the "Lee-Valley Precision Double square", item number: 24N08.01.

It too is guaranteed to be within + / - .001" per foot. It has the same design and is also made in the USA, but it costs significantly less... seventeen-fifty less... about thirty-two percent. They have a six-inch model for only two dollars more.

Budget minded woodworkers who want this type of square can get the same performance for less from Lee Valley.com. Same feel, same look, same accuracy, same features... fewer ducats.

5 out of 5 stars Be kind to yourself and your projects and get one!   March 24, 2009
J. Stroup (Vancouver, WA)
This is the second time I have ever been moved to leave a review for a product I have gotten on amazon. I cannot recommend this double square enough. Really quality product, heavy and well made. Absolutely perfect, great size because it fits in a apron pocket or coat pocket easily. You probably want to get a larger Starrett combo square too, but for checking tools or other measuring devices as well as taking small measurements, this tool cannot be surpassed. The price may seem a little steep, but there is probably no greater favor you can do yourself and your projects than having dead accurate measuring devices.

5 out of 5 stars Starrett 13A Double Square Review   January 20, 2009

Excellent Measuring tool! Nice to have the confidence of an accurate square. Coupled with low price and Amazon's quick fulfillment, it's a no-brainer.

Thank you,

5 out of 5 stars Good square, but Lee Valley Double Square is better   December 20, 2008

I like this square, but the Lee Valley equivalent is better than the Starrett. It is easier to read because of the matt finish on the steel. The Lee Valley square slides easier and is slightly larger and thicker as well.

5 out of 5 stars Small and handy   December 16, 2008
Raymond Groesbeck (Macomb, MI USA)
I really liked this small square as I can carry it in my apron and use it on small hard to reach jobs. I have bigger squares, but They are not as easy to use. Starrett 13A Double Square with hardened Blade
