Rare earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet currently made. They are amazingly powerful for their size and have innumerable uses. These disc magnets are 0.250 inch (6.4mm) diameter and 0.100 inch (2.5mm) thick. They are magnetized through the thickness. They are composed of grade 40 neodymium iron boron magnetic material and are plated in nickel-copper-nickel for a shiny corrosion resistant finish. Their individual pull force is approximately 2 lbs. Maximum working temperature is 176 F (80 C). Magnets may chip and crack if allowed to snap together

 Clutter free at last November 11, 2009

I used these magnets to get rid of the hideous clutter on my fridge. I was tired of using all the weak advertisement magnets to hold up family pictures and kids drawings. They were unpleasant to look at and I was constantly knocking pictures down just by opening the freezer door. I included a picture of my now clean and organized fridge. Yes, I'm that nerdy. I've had them on for a couple of months now and not one item has fallen off. Also, these magnets are difficult to remove from the fridge by hand. Take a regular screwdriver, however, and they come off quite easily.

These magnets are REALLY strong. I bought them for a notice board and they are so strong that it is hard to pull them off the board! So if this is what you are buying them for you might want to go for a bigger size which would be a bit easier to pick up with your fingers. If you are using these to attach something permanent or rarely moved them these are perfect.

I had so much fun with these little magnets the day I got them. My boyfriend and I could not believe how strong they were (2 single magnets can attract on either side of my index finger). They would be great for crafting strong refrigerator magnets, or whatever you can think of.

Speaking the truth (Washington DC)
I was able to hang a full-length mirror on my metal door using these. You get a lot of magnets for the price. Be careful not to attach these to painted surfaces as they are so strong they will take off paint.
