1 out of 5 stars Junk   November 3, 2009
D. C. Elkerton (MA United States)
Complete Junk - Broke off in the screw the first one I tried, cut my hand in the process and left the VERY sharp broken piece in the end of the screw! I had to hammer it out with the end of a screwdriver so my kids wouldn't cut themselves on it, destroying the surrounding material in the process! I'd give it zero stars if I could!

5 out of 5 stars GRAB IT TOOL   November 3, 2009
Brian Carter (PHOENIX)
I HAD 3 SCREW HEAD BOLT'S I HAD TO REMOVE FROM A SMALL ENGINE. THE GRAB IT TOOL WAS KIND OF SLOW TO DRIL WITH SO I JUST USED A REGULAR DRIL BIT. BUT THE OTHER END OF THE TOOL WORKED GREAT. IT TOOK THE 3 BOLT'S OUT JUST LIKE I SEEN ON THE COMERCIAL. YOU JUST HAVE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE DRILL REALY HARD OR THE BIT WILL SPIN.. BRIAN FROM PHOENIX AZ

4 out of 5 stars Replacement set   November 1, 2009
Mr. J J MaCaw (Baxter, Minnesota USA)
I had purchased the (3 piece) Sears Craftsman set some time ago to have in case of an emergency screw out situation. It worked as advertised but due to not watching what I was doing I broke the end off one of the bits. Sears said "No Warranty on this product". I found out not all Craftsman tools are warranty'd for life.

So when I saw the Alden ProGrabit 4 piece set on Amazon at less money than the Sears 3 piece I jumped at the opportunity. These screw extractors work as advertised but you must follow the instructions to the letter. If you do they will do the job. You just have to remember you have this ingenious removal tool in your tool box when the need is present.

The tool steel is very hard so if you move the drill side to side at all when drilling the bit will break. Especially with the smaller bits. Use a steady hand and you will find they work as advertised.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't work for the jobs that I need it to   October 12, 2009

I work construction and needed it for the first time last week to remove some philips head bolts. I used it and the end that drills into the head to extract the bolt stripped instantly. And the bolt hardly budged, so I ended up having to go get my old stand by the easy outs. This may work for small jobs for non gawled screws but for stainless steal bolts that are gawled forget it. Definitly not professional grade!!

4 out of 5 stars Does What It Says +   October 11, 2009
Honest John (Eau Claire, WI)
This was a replacement set for one that I somehow lost after a few years. The extractors work as advertised and it's a joy, after wrestling with bits that jump out or strip a screw, suddenly to see the screw back out with the Grabit. One word of advice: SLOW! While you can use a high speed for the first step, it's best to use a slow and steady speed, with as good deal of pressure into the screw head, when extracting. Also, make SURE you keep the drill in reverse or you'll experience frustration and disappointment. Overall, a very good product, and far superior to a smililar set sold by Craftsman. (I have never tried this or the previous set on bolts so cannot evaluate this function.)
