The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water.  Clean the Indicator Screen Often! November 23, 2009

OK cleaner, but does not hold up as well as the predecessor Hoover model I owned for a couple of years. I've had this machine for a year and cleaned up all the crud left by kids, pets, and messy guests. I'd say my usage amount has been average to light. Use the recommended amounts of soap and HOT water and it does a decent job. The problem for me has been the the scrubbing brushes. I learned (the hard way) that if you do not keep the indicator screen very clean, the brushes will stop and the machine will break. Getting warranty service at my local repair shop was not a problem. The tech said he has been getting a run on repairs for these machines. Same problem, dirty screen equals seized brushes. I'm thinking my next carpet cleaner might not be a Hoover SteamVac.

I ordered it with the free shipping option from Amazon and got it in 2 business days!!!!! It works better than the 3 previous units that we have had. I couldn't believe how well it picked up the dirt and grime out of the carpet and the clean surge worked great on stains and heavily soiled areas. I would recommend this unit to everyone I know that needs a carpet cleaner!

This is the second Hoover SteamVac I have owned. I passed the old one along thinking it worked just fine. This new one surprised me by cleaning even better.
I can only speak to the basic function of carpet cleaning ... that's all I have used it for. And it works well for that purpose. The price from Amazon is better that any other I found. Plus free shipping and no sales tax....
CLEANING TIP: For dirty spots, I found clothes washing spot cleaner worked very well. Spray it on, massage it with a brush before cleaning the carpet with the SteamVac. Took out some very tough pet stains.

Had the unit about a month now, so far, no real problems. I don't like the fact that this model does not have a simultaneous clean/rinse option like my previous one had. I used to be able to clean in the forward path, then auto rinse in the reverse path. You now have to scrub first, remove all of the cleaning solution in the tank, then refill with fresh water to rinse. Had I know this prior to purchase, I would not have done so.
What really amazed me was Amazon's shipping, The unit arrived in 2 days and this
was with the free shipping option. Fantastic.

This machine is easy to operate and does a fabulous job. Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a carpet cleaner. Looking forward to keeping my carpets clean, much more economical than paying a service and this way I can do it whenever it is needed!
