These filters only filter out heavy metals and chlorine. Not flouride. That's unfortunate because flouride is toxic.

PROS: Britta lost its certification for lead filtering since the requirements for lead by the NSF changed. I really liked the idea that the PUR filter filters out a much larger list of contaminants as compared with the Britta which only filters out three substances, LEAD not being one of them.(Note: PUR gets lead certification from another company, not NSF......stange)
CONS: filters very slowly, poor manufacturing, there are small,white, hair like pieces on around this filter, some I could wipe off with my finger, I'm not sure what they are, but didn't want my kids ingesting it. Also, there was some loose plastic and the filter itself looks scratched in the light. This made me worry about the integrity of the unit as a whole and I phoned PUR (Procter and Gamble) and they were very helpful and would look into the problem.
I landed up getting a refund from them, but I would really like to see a well manufactured product that filters a broad range of substances......... ..???????

I've always though PUR filters did a better job than their competitors in terms of taste. The water is clean and tastes purified.

These filters couldn't be easier to use. They last me about a month and a half each. I drink a lot of water. They make the water taste much better. I can't say that I know, however, how effective these filters are at removing contaminants/impurities; I've never had the water tested. I use them because my home has some older pipes and I just want to be safe, and have better tasting water.
