Product Description Sleek & Trim Kindle DX is as thin as most magazines. Just over a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle DX fits perfectly in your hands. Beautiful Large Display Kindle DX's large display is ideal for a broad range of reading material, including graphic-rich books, PDFs, newspapers, magazines, and blogs. Kindle DX's display is two and a half times the size of the Kindle display. Whether you're reading the latest bestseller or a financial report, text and images are amazingly sharp on the 9.7" screen. Auto-Rotating Screen By simply turning the device, you can immediately see full-width landscape views of maps, graphs, tables and Web pages. Built-In PDF Reader Unload the loose documents from your briefcase or backpack, and put them all on Kindle DX. From neighborhood newsletters to financial statements to case studies and product manuals--you can take them all with you on Kindle DX. Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go. With Amazon's Whispernet service, you can send your documents directly to your Kindle DX and read them anytime, anywhere. 5-Way Controller Kindle DX has an easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Simple to Use, No Computer Required Kindle DX is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. Long Battery Life - Read for Days Without Recharging With Kindle DX's long battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly.

My second Kindle DX November 27, 2009 Mable J. Jordan I love my Kindle DX. I'm getting one for a Christmas gift. I use it every day. My first one was to be shared with someone but I found out I don't want to share it. I wish it had a back light. I love the fact that you can make the type larger and therefore do not have to use my glasses.
Thanks Amazon
M Jordan
Top of the mart November 27, 2009 Larry Trochtenberg The DX does everything I expecteded and more. The new software update puts the DX in a world all to it's self.
i love it November 27, 2009 J. Smet (Indiana) i love my kindle and its so easy to use! i have had it about a month and i have almost 100 books on it. i can't say enough about it. if you question if you really want to buy one, like i did, buy it! the larger dx model is a bit larger and so easy to read on. i questioned if one would be for me and when it came and i started reading on it i couldnt put it down.
Some room for improvement November 27, 2009 Amy Leung (Hong Kong) I have been using the Kindle DX for several months now, and I absolutely love it for my reading. It has much better contrast than my Sony PRS-505/SC. The only thing about it is that (like the Sony bookreader) it is rather slow in rendering a page (and thus turning a page), particularly if the pages are scanned from a book (i.e. images), so it can be a nightmare if you want to skim through a book quickly or find the things you want, particularly if they are not in the native Kindle format. As yet this makes the Kindle a suboptimal candidate for a textbook replacement.
I really think the Kindle needs a faster processor. Short of that, I think Amazon should seriously consider the following enhancements in the coming versions/ firmwares to overcome its shortcoming of slow page turning (and thus navigation) and improve the usability of the device:
1. Better PDF support to aid navigation, particularly (i) PDF bookmarks support, and (2) searching within PDF documents.
2. Better Bookmarks support: allow user to edit the title of the bookmarks.
3. Finally, there is one small bug that when you click to start highlighting, the background white becomes a tinge of grey and the contrasts somehow gets very poor when the device is viewed under direct sunlight. So it would be very nice if that could be addressed.
Actually once a page is loaded it is very nice to read on the device, and I'm sure it will be a much better device when the above issues are addressed.
Book should be lighetre than this November 27, 2009 Zak Kogun (San Jose, CA USA) Kindle DX is a convenient device to see newspapers and read books but it is heavier than the paper newspapers and books.
The device should be lighter to replace the traditional books, magazines, or newspapers.
