Not knowing much about the Kindle I purchased it, I didn't realize how important it is to have a solid, good looking cover to protect the investment I made. I know I'll be much more comfortable when I travel knowing the Kindle is safe from the normal handling my carry-on will be exposed to.

i waited to purchase a kindle until the features i wanted and needed were available and the kindle dx has taken care of almost everything i hoped for. in my mind, the only thing missing is color and a light to use to read at night that isn't something that has to be attached....as is, i have no complaints about the dx and think it is money well spent....

If my experience is any indication, this cover over time will damage your kindle causing cracks in the plastic on the left side. My Kindle still works, but I am very disappointed to have these cracks in it. At least when it is out of the cover, the cracks mostly disappear.
I have the similar case for my Kindle II and there have been no problems. With the DX it is VERY problematic however.
I would recommend this item instead: M-Edge Executive Synthetic Leather Kindle DX Jacket (Fits 9.7" Display, Latest Generation Kindle DX), Smooth Black Not only is it even more attractive than this cover, it is cheaper, and it does NOT hold the Kindle by the flawed mechanical gripping devices, and instead holds the DX at the corners. It will NOT break your Kindle DX therefore.
