This came in the time frame as advertised, packaged well, in perfect condition. This unit is small, light and a snap to use. It goes great as an adjunct to my Mac Book Air and fits into my carryon bag. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light, portable unit.

After a long search, reading a lot of reviews. And price comparison; I got this drive, mainly to use with my Acer Netbook which has no optical drive. It installs in no time, real plug and play. As noted by other reviewers, It has two regular USB plugs, both are connect to a single mini-USB plug, it did work fine with a single USB connected when reading CD's or playing DVD's, however, it needed the two when writing, it seems it draws more power when writing, and one USB does not supply enough power for the task.
The drive is very thin and small, very easy to carry. It is very well built and looks good too.
I use it mainly to burn DVD's. So far I did almost 40 or so with no problem. The speed is comparable with any other burner I've used, did not notice any difference. Same goes with the noise level (very Low).
I give 4 stars for the short UBS cable; Samsung could have added another foot of cable to make it more practical. Otherwise, it is a very well made and very practical portable burner.

I bought this to replace the internal one in my Toshiba Laptop, which had already been replaced once before.
When I plugged the Samsung External Drive into my laptop, it recognized it immediately (Win XP-Home) and works beautifully --- No Issues to date!

Works just fine on the MacBook Pro. Doesn't work well unless you plug it into two USB ports(cable included). I use a three foot USB cable and an iPhone USB power adapter. Side by side, it is slightly taller than the palm rest area of the MBP.
I have the white model. There is a metal flake like finish to the top side; flat white on the bottom.
Being able to work off one USB port would be nice, but if I needed another one I'd get this one again.
Extra cable I use: AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (3.3 Feet / 1.0 Meter) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]
which I plug into a power adapter:OEM Apple USB Power Adapter with Data Cable for ATT (AT&T) Iphone 2G / 3G / 3G S to free up a USB port.
The included cable is too short to reach both sides of the 2.14GHz MBP by itself.
