3 out of 5 stars Only works on HD TVs   November 27, 2009
Honesty (Westover, WV USA)
After Dish Network canceled three repair visits in a row, I dropped the service and have been watching TV on my desktop. I decided I wanted a little mobility, so I bought this laptop, thinking I could hook it up to my TV sets. Unfortunately, I discovered that it will ONLY work on HD TVs. Am I a technology moron? Not completely, but clearly enough of one to have spent money on a computer that won't do what I wanted it to. As for the computer itself, it's not really big enough to watch without having it within "typing distance." This makes watching it in the bedroom difficult, particularly with five animals viaing for prime cuddle space. In addition, the internal speakers are not very good. I'm going to keep the laptop because I will be using it for typical computer activities, including watching it while in the recliner, with a lapboard and wearing headphones. Since I hadn't planned on upgrading my home entertainment setups right now, I'll just get a Roku box for the bedroom for watching Netflix and Amazon Video-On-Demand. This won't help with online shows (The Daily Show, Dancing With the Stars, etc.), but it will be about half of my entertainment internet use.

I may never get to review this computer. I ordered on Nov. 18. It was shipped on Nov. 20. It is now Nov. 27 and delivery not in sight. I have watched with interest the tracking of this shipment. I believe it is shipping by Pony Express!!HP Pavilion DV6-1350US 15.6-Inch Espresso Laptop - Up to 4 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

5 out of 5 stars Great features and performance for the price   November 27, 2009
Roger Bolhouse (Little Rock, AR)
I needed a laptop replacement computer quickly and saw this at a great price. Fast processor and large highspeed hard drive--wireless N and Bluetooth. The 12 cell battery is large and heavy but it is great having the extra charge time. My first HP (I have always been a Dell guy) but I could not wait for the build time--especially having to deal with their now poor service. So far--a great value and I would recommend this DV6-1350US Notebook.

1 out of 5 stars Huh?   November 24, 2009
THE REAL REVIEW (I'm right here on Earth)

What the??? This is nuts. Price went UP $100 since yesterday. Aren't prices on technology supposed to drop as time passes not go up? Wouldnt we expect to see at least some price discounts/sales for the holidays? Yet, amzn has now decided to UP the price on this model $100?!

We all know the price will drop again, so why would anybody pay the extra $100? Why would amzn even raise the price knowing that evberybody that buys this will be asking for some $$'s back or simply returning it if that is what they need to do in order to get the lower price.

Nothing against this computer. Just cant figure out what amzn is doing other then making things more difficult to buy from them due to the constantly changing prices of almost eveything they sell.

I will NOT pay $100 more for this unit and I think anybody that does will see it or something with even better specs for far less in the coming weeks. LAPTOPS with excellent specs are on sale all over the place right now.

5 out of 5 stars 1 Day Delivery and up and running in under 30 minutes   November 18, 2009
Derek (Northern Virginia)
I just ordered this yesterday and am up and running. Win7 loads with 60 sec unlike my older HP with XP which now takes anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes. the 12 cell battery is hard to find in a stock configuration, so that, plue 4GB of DDR3, and a 7200rmp hard drive, for this price is what made me buy. I'd like a firewire port too but I see plenty of USB firewire to USB adapters on Amazon. I setup the WIFI as part of the initial boot up (just entered my SSID/code number for my WiFi Lan), then loaded Microsoft Office and Vizio in about 10 minutes and let them register online. Keyboard has a nice feel, typical of HP laptops, and I'll add info to this review after doing some video editing with Pinnacle 9 Plus, Ulead and Sony Vegas. I'm sure I'll want to Upgrade my DDR3 to 8GB so appreciate any suggestions/stats/prices anyone has on that. For now I'm very happy to the quality and features at this price which was impossible to find at another trusted site or store. Now to figure out that $50 rebate!
