The company that I bought it through is who I have an issue with. They sent me a computer that wasn't even conected inside. For $110 I had to ship it back to Gateway so they could fix it. They haven't even offered m y shipping costs. I won't do business with those people again.

DON'T BUY THIS COMPUTER November 1, 2009 Corey J. Smith (Virginia) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
THe Gateway DX4822 is a lemon, or more correctly, has a lemon of a hard drive. While a 1TB hard drive for this price sounds like a good deal, it's only a good deal if the hard drive work; this one DOESN'T. I bought one and while simply downloading files from an external hard drive to the Gateway, the hard drive crashed. The reatailer gave me a new Gateway 4822, and in the second one the hard drive didn't work at all. I brought it back to the retailer and they found that the hard drive had been incorrectly installed. When I called Gateway service, all they could do was ask me to ship the computer to one of their service centers. Talk about inconvenient. After two weeks of total fustration I purchased a Dell Inspiron 545 which so far has worked flawlessley, and was perfectly capable of transferring my external data to its internal hard drive. I would stay away from this computer completely.
Best buy for a bound budget. November 1, 2009 Randle Kregh (CT, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have the heftier model, 6 GB RAM; Dual-Core; 1TB HDD; running Windows 7 Home Premium. This computer and OS were made for each other. If you are excited about the release of Windows OS 7 as much as I was, you are going to want this machine or extremely similar.
I knew what I wanted, and all I needed was the tower. I looked all over the net for something as reliable as eMachine (my previous one lasted an incredible 5 years and still took a beating with heavy loads all the while running fast). I couldn't find a suitable eMachine running Win7, but knowing that Gateway builds those and Compaqs, I decided to spend the extra cash for this system.
Setting aside aesthetics with its awesome placement of the power button, USBs and Digital Card readers; black glossy finish with chrome accents; uniquely designed keyboard and optical mouse, this computer runs fast and stays quiet. Start up time seems to decrease with every reboot, peripherals plug and play instantly, HD video and audio output make this perfect for anyone connecting this your HDTV (up until now I had yet to fully utilize my HDTV for what I bought it for almost 3 years ago), and did I mention it looks pretty sitting next my desk?
I don't have a million bucks to buy top of the line stuff, but this system sure puts me up there with and above the fat cats who spent 4 times as much as I did. Kind of makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
