Amazon.com Product Description
Once your child outgrows her rear-facing infant car seat, she's still required ride in a car seat or a booster for several more years to come. So rather than investing in a succession of seats and boosters, try the Graco Nautilus 3-in 1 Toddler Car Seat, the only forward-facing car seat your child will need. Its five-point harness accommodates children up to 65 pounds, and its convertible booster/backless booster can hold children up to 100 pounds in weight--longer than most other convertible car seats.

The Graco Nautilus 3-in 1 Toddler Car Seat (Matrix) offers:
  • Forward-facing car seat can accommodate children up to 65 pounds.
  • Conversion to back booster and backless booster for accommodating children up to 100 pounds.
  • Meets or exceeds US safety standards.
  • Integrated cup holder and side storage.

The steel-reinforced structure ensures your child's safety. View larger.

By removing the back, the Nautilus will accompany a child up to 100 pounds.
Versatile, Convertible Design Lasts through Early Childhood
The Nautilus features an extended five-point harness design that can accommodate children over the age of one, from 20 to 65 pounds in weight--a wider range than most other forward-facing car seats. As your child grows, the seat easily converts to a high-back booster and then, lastly, to a backless booster for a child up to 100 pounds in weight. A steel-reinforced frame and superior construction help to ensure safety and durability through years of use.

Built for Comfort and Superior Safety
You can rest assured that your child will have superior protection while riding in the Nautilus, thanks to extensive crash testing and a steel-reinforced structure. The car seat meets or exceeds US Safety Standards, including U.S. Compliance Standard FMVSS 213; the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), with peak Crash Force approximately twice the Car Seat Standard; and tests for Extreme Car Interior Temperatures. EPS energy-absorbing foam provides additional security and comfort.

As well as being secure and safe, your child will feel extra-comfy, too, with an easily adjustable head support, cushioned seat, and wide armrests; a cup holder and side storage keeps snacks and treasures close at hand.

About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

5 out of 5 stars Great seat   November 6, 2009
E. Murray (Texas)
We ordered this seat on amazon. I saw it in person at target and it was 10 dollars more.
We love the seat so far and my son really loves it too. I like how it has compartments on the side and a cup holder. I think my husband is jealous, lol.

Some cons:
There are no good instructions for installing it in the car.

The recline position is about a 1/4 inch difference.

3 out of 5 stars Who designed these buckles anyway?   November 5, 2009
Chalko (USA)
The seat itself is nice enough, but the buckles are so annoying!!! I have been through quite a few car seats for my kids and this is the first one where I actually worry about being able to get my son out of his seat. Not many people commented on this, so maybe it is just my luck to get one where I have to struggle every time to open it. The straps get twisted very easily, and the buckles are very finicky about where and how they will open. You have to push on them in *exactly* the right spot and the right pressure. It can be extremely aggravating when you are in a rush and you can't get your kid out of the car.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT car seat!!   November 5, 2009
cautious mommy (VT)
I am a car seat fanatic and do A LOT of research before making what i consider to be an extremely important purchase. This car seat is heavy but to me that means durable! My daughter loves, i's easy to install and use and i won't have to buy another car seat for her again. I would highly recommend this!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Seat, Real Secure, Daughter Loves It!!!   October 29, 2009
I. Fayyaz (Sterling Heights, MI)
We had tried a number of seats (3 of them) and most just didn't feel secure enough and our daughter was never happy in any of them until we got this one. It is well built and is very secure, especially the head rests. The seat is also very comfortable with more then enough padding. Our daughter loves it and we can actually go though a few hours of diving (long trips) without her fussing :). It has plenty of room to expand as the toddler also grows. The straps/harness are easy to use and click right into each other as they should. Easy in and out! We would highly recommend this seat!

5 out of 5 stars Mother of 2   October 27, 2009
T. Smith (Raleigh, NC)
As a Mother of 2 and a physician, I value the safety of my child's carseat above many other aspects of it. It is the current recommendations of the AAP to keep kids in the full 5 point harness as long as possible. When my tall 3 year-old (42") out grew his Britax Boulevard I started searching for a 5 point replacement. The Graco Nautilus met all of my requirements (saftey, comfort, & easy to clean) and was one of the most reasonably priced of the seats. It was easy to install in both my Tahoe and my Prius (took less than 10 min to get it done). It tightened down so well that it doesn't wiggle at all. (I actually used both the latch and the seatbelt to secure it since the latch system has a lower weight limit than the 5 point harness on the seat but it was unmoving with just the latch). This is one of the first seats I have not needed to have the local fire department install in order to have it completely correct. I was able to tighten out all of the wiggle myself. It was also easy to adjust for my child's height (with a lot of room to grow despite him being tall). It has 2 positions for the buckle strap so I was able to move it out and not let my son's genital area be uncomfortable from a tight strap. My son loves it. He actually asked to go extra places for the first few weeks because he liked riding in it so much. We have taken a 9 hour car trip with out a single complaint of being uncomfortable. My son likes the extra cubbies to hide snacks or toys and the drink holder works well to hold a sippy cup or water bottle. Unlike most other car seats, he is unable to unclick himself because of the design of the buckle. The material is easy to wipe down and the cover can be removed and washed if needed. I haven't found a negative in the first few months and 2 thousand miles of use.
