Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
A symphonic smorgas-Borge that captures the musical comedian at his funniest! Victor Borge's unique talent for highlighting the absurdities of classical music with humor is legend. His popular 1951 television show cleverly named The Victor Borge Show was, until now, seemingly gone forever. But these rare kinescopes have now been discovered and digitally remastered to bring you 14 hilarious long-lost episodes! This treasure trove of television history features his most classical comedic moments, as well as guest stars including a pre-Honeymooners Art Carney!

2 out of 5 stars bad sound   January 14, 2008

It's very hard to hear what is being said. The film is just too old to reproduce properly.

I would not have ordered had I known it was merely a collection of dated black & white video clips from early TV.It even includes the original ads for Kellogs cereal! In fact there is more footage of Kellogs than of Borge.

Someone put this together on the cheap & markets it to the unsuspecting public. It isn't worth a dime as entertainment. It belongs nowhere but in a TV museum

My elderly mother is a huge Borge fan and I gave this to her for Christmas, but after watching one, was sorry I had. There wasn't enough piano/comedy, too much lame sketch "comedy," and through one entire DVD, I didn't so much as chuckle once. If I had been able to view it before buying, I would definitely have moved on to something else.
Oddly, the one thing I found interesting was the early 50s Kellogg commercials.

3 out of 5 stars Rough around the edges, but a few bright spots   August 31, 2007
D. Hutcheson (Brightwood, VA)
Audio quality is sporadic (what do you expect from 50-yr old film?), so expect to ride the volume control while watching these. Victor was a great pianist and the addition of humor made him a great entertainer. These shows repeat the same "how modern composers create new tunes" skit several times, and some of the other skits lacked humor. Otherwise, nice to see Victor's humor and piano artistry in action many years ago.

This is vintage Victor!! It is great for anyone wanting to hear Victor at his best. It has all of the favorites. Must buy for Victor Borge fans.
