Product Description If a broom falls company is due. When a circle rings the moon trouble looms Should you misplace your broom sorry; a hand vac can't be used in an exorcism rite. Fun and excitement abound in the Owens family of wily witches. One problem though: the men the Owens women fall in love with are doomed to an untimely death. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman bring a sparkling screen magic to Practical Magic adapted from Alice Hoffman's bestseller and directed by Griffin Dunne (Addicted to Love). They play Sally and Gillian Owens sisters hexed by a centuries -old curse...and coping with a witches brew of events involving a possible love match (Aidan Quinn) for one a zombie (Goran Visnjic) for the other and a need to resume the age-old witchcraft taught by two doting Owens aunts (Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest). Sit for a spell and enjoy.Running Time: 110 min.System Requirements:Starring: Sandra Bullock Nicole Kidman et al. Amazon.com Actor Griffin Dunne improves a bit on his first film as a director, Addicted to Love, with this drama-comedy about a family of witches. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock play spell-casting sisters of different temperaments: the former is a high-living, free-spirited sort, while Bullock's character is a homebody who can't get around a family curse that kills the men in their lives. A widowed single mom, Bullock gets into a jam with an abusive Bulgarian (Goran Visnjic) and is helped out by her sibling, but the result brings a good-looking, warm, inquisitive cop (Aidan Quinn) into their lives. The film has a variety of tonal changes--cute, scary, glum--that Dunne can't always effectively juggle. But the female-centric, celebratory nature of the film (the fantasies, the sharing, the witchy bonds) is infectious, and supporting roles by Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing as Kidman and Bullock's magical aunts are a lot of fun. --Tom Keogh

Love and Magic October 15, 2009 J. K. Samuels (USA) I searched and found this wonderful movie on DVD. This is a story of life, love lost and in the possibilities that life and a touch of magic, could bring a new future. The DVD arrived in excellent condition, although I don't like the type of case it came in, but that does not take away from the wonderful and wistful feeling that the movie leaves inside me after I watch it.
Great Movie. It took 3 1/2 weeks to get here but it did get here so thats what counts. September 24, 2009 Miesje Carlsen (Palm Bay, FL USA) Love this movie. It's one of my favorites. It was accurately described and when I sent an email asking where it was they emailed me back quickly. However it took 3 1/2 weeks to get here which is a really long time. But..... it did finally get here.
LOVED THIS MOVIE! September 17, 2009 Pamela M. Lasalle (ANAHEEIM, CA United States) THIS MOVIE IS MOSTLY FOR WOMEN, BUT IT IS A FUN AND ENCHANTING STORY AND THE SCENERY AND PLACE WHERE THIS MOVIE WAS FILMED REALLY IS BEAUTIFUL...... A VERY QUAINT TOWN FILMED ON FRIDAY HARBOR IN MAIN. YOU WANT TO GET UP AND MOVE THERE! THE HOUSE IS BREATHTAKING.....I FOUND IT THE KIND OF MOVIE THAT I COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN....IT WAS FUN AND HAD A BIT OF EVERYTHING IN IT....NOT TO MENTION TWO BEAUTIFUL ACTRESSES, BULLOCK AND KIDMAN...STOCKARD CHANNING AND PIPER LAURIE ARE PERFECT AS THE AUNTS. IT IS THE BEST MOVIE ABOUT WITCHES I HAVE EVER SEEN....I DON'T BELIEVE IN DABBLING IN WITCHCRAFT BEING A CHRISTIAN, YET I FOUND MYSELF SPELLBOUND AND CAPTIVATED...LOVED THE MUSIC, TOO.....GOOD MOVIE TO WATCH WITH THE GIRLS!!!
I CAN'T BELIEVE THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE WHO ARE DISSING THIS MOVIE...THEY MUST HAVE NO REAL SENSE OF FANTASY!
ONE BIG QUESTION??? WHY HASN'T THIS FILM COME OUT ON BLUE RAY????
an easy favorite September 12, 2009 G. Hess (Madison, WI) I adore movies about witches, they make me more imaginative and confident. some people who reviewed this movie before i got here reminded me of the quote "there's a little witch in all of us". indeed it's true, this is one movie that will help you discover that. very human, very witchy, very fun!
terrific cast and music. very well done!
So NOT "just another chick film". September 11, 2009 Donald Hawthorne (Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA) Husbands and boyfriends, relax; when your Significant Other pops this disc into the player, you won't have to pretend to be awake through it, because this is that rarest of entertainments, a chick-film guys can enjoy without worrying about sleepwalking through a redecoration of the guest bedroom.
First off, it has great fenale leads - not to mention being REAL easy on the eyes. It's got a fun, at times creepy plot with a backstory that's maybe even a little disturbing (careful who you fall for); it also boasts a great Good Guy men can relate to, a GREAT bad guy men would rather not admit we can be like, and it's even got a pretty decent good vs. evil climactic battle.
If you're going to spend Sunday watching football, you won't feel you wasted your Saturday night watching this with your wife or girlfriend. Heck, it's okay; you can even admit you liked it. :-)
