Product Description THE STORY OF THE PRINCESS & THE PAUPER WHO WERE WORLDS APART IN LIFESTYLES, YET IDENTICAL IN LOOKS! WHEN CHANCE BRINGS THEM TOGETHER, IT BECOMES THE BEGINNING OF A GREAT ADVENTURE & A FRIENDSHIP THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME. WHEN ANNELIESE IS CAPTURED, ERIKA MUST PRETEND TO BE THE PRINCESS TO SAVE HER.
Amazon.com Barbie's excellent musical debut features first-rate voices and songs, and a captivating story about love, responsibility, and freedom. Based on Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper, the 85-minute computer-animated adventure is about two almost identical girls who, though born into very different circumstances, are amazingly alike. A chance meeting between the young women becomes significant when Princess Annaliese is later kidnapped and (pauper) Erika suddenly becomes a crucial component in the search for the princess and her captor. The princess's confinement and Erika's glimpse into the life of a princess leads both girls toward a new compassion for the other and a serious contemplation of the conflict between one's sense of duty and the desire to be free. Adding to the general confusion is the princess's intended, the handsome King Dominick; her devoted tutor, Julian; and the Queen's evil advisor, Preminger. (Ages 3 to 9) --Tami Horiuchi

Entertaining, musical, clean, actually cute to watch for MOM :) May 20, 2009 MotherOfTwins (USA) I bought this movie at Target for five bucks! My two girls LOVE this dvd. This animation is not the best, but they dance to it and really enjoy it. The villian is actually great drama; the music is quite good in this dvd. I was pleasantly surprised by this five dollar purchase. The story is pretty good too.
Wonderful Movie! February 7, 2009 SarahNoel90 (Minnesota) I am 18 years old, and I am a lover of all Barbie movies. Princess and the Pauper is my favorite Barbie movie of all time! I watch it every time I feel sick to cheer me up. I love the songs, and the characters, and how colorful everything is. I recommend this to all little girls, and even some big ones too.
Still good after a couple of years January 31, 2009 Julie Balch (Wisconsin) We bought this movie a couple of years ago for our 5 year old daughter. Not only did she love it but her 3 year old sister did as well. The best part is that is has held up over the last two years. Now 7 and 5 they still enjoy it and I'm not sick of it. The songs are good and memorable. The kids enjoy the romances, with the wedding at the end of course, but also enjoy the bad guys and the cats. I was concerned how well the Barbie movies would last for the girls as they got older. Some of them they have no interest in watching any more. But they still like this one. I highly recommend it.
Great Music! January 28, 2009 Olga (Kansas City, MO) I bought this DVD for my 4-year old daughter when she was 2 and a half, and she still loves it. The storyline is sweet and entertaining, and the music is very good. The DVD that I bought had a bonus audio CD, and we listen to it in the car. I don't know if the DVD being sold on Amazon has the bonus audio, so I don't want to disappoint anyone.
