Also includes double-sided, interactive "Learn to Read" word cards, one wipe-clean word card, and one erasable, non-toxic pen.
This revolutionary early-reading program encourages infants and toddlers to NATURALLY learn the written word AT THE SAME TIME as they learn the spoken word. Studies indicate that early readers are more confident, have higher self-esteem, and generally do better in school and in life!
*Teaches babies, toddlers and preschoolers written language during the window of opportunity for learning language.
*Promotes the learning of "natural phonics".
* Also includes a complete overview of the program, including an orientation and a parents' "How To" by Dr. Titzer himself, testimonials, and remarkable footage of babies reading.
This language development system introduces children to the wonderful world of words using Dr. Robert Titzer's fun, multi-sensory reading approach. Babies and toddlers do not just watch this DVD. They interact with it!

Costs Too Much November 23, 2009 McDume (Los Angeles, California) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful

"Learning programs for infants and toddlers like "Your Baby Can Read" are aggressively marketed to new parents and appeal to our most sincere instincts - to do what is best for our children and give them every advantage in life. The children in the promotional videos look so happy to be reading words (words that some cannot even speak yet!), and their parents are so proud. We naturally wonder, "Those people are teaching their toddlers to read? Am I failing my child? Will she fall behind before she even starts kindergarten?"
Parents can relax. Early learning gimmicks have been recycled for years, yet not one has ever been scientifically proven to enhance a child's learning abilities (or increase intelligence, for that matter.) The reality is that we harm our children when we control and push forward their development, rather than facilitating and letting it happen. Infants and toddlers need time to follow their natural curiosity and interests, which can only happen when they are engaged in uninterrupted, self-directed play. So, when we give a baby reading lessons -- or any kind of instruction -- that child pays a steep price. She is deprived of the vastly more important, age-appropriate activities that prepare a foundation for true reading comprehension and for the higher levels of brain function in the future."...

REALLY not worth the money November 20, 2009 DesertRose (FL, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product because like most other people who bought it, of all the things I had heard about it, but to say this product is disappointing is an understatement. My child was enthused about it for about a week and then she wasnt interested anymore. I know some people will say that their kids "love it" but hey what works for some doesnt always work for others.
This product achieves something any parent could do just by taking the time to sit down and work with their child with flashcards a few times a week. Its nothing innovative or anything new. Its a repeative viewing of a few words, with a song or two thrown in thats all.
Don't take my word for it, if you know a friend who already has it, ask them to let you preview it before buying it. Everyone's case is different. I wont completely write it off as a disaster but to say that I would rave to all my friends about it is far fetched.
My Baby can read November 16, 2009 Sarah K. Kirkpatrick (Lawton, OK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered My Baby can Read for my 2 year old grandson. He is doing well with the program.....can recognize a lot of the words on the cards with the pictures. His parents are very pleased with the results. We love it !
My 2yr old really can read! November 7, 2009 Decorating Fanatic (GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm stunned by the people who didn't like this product. This is probably the best educational toy (if you can call it that) that I have purchased for my daughter. I have been using it about 3 months now and my 2 yr old daughter can read all of the words on the flash cards and nearly all the words in the videos. Moreover, she recognizes the words if I write them on a peice of paper or if I show them to her in a book or magazine. So, its not just memorizing the order, she really is learning the words.
I do have problems keeping her focused on it after she has seen it for a few weeks. Usually, that is my sign to start the next DVD in the series. Even though they recommend that some DVD's be watched for 2 months, my daughter gets bored with them much faster than that.
I do have one small criticism, some of the words that were chosen for the flash cards, I question. Why choose "rhinocerous" or "hippopotomus" before you teach the word "house" or "school". I would think common words that your baby was more likely to encounter and use would be best to start with it. I also think that "your baby can read" books would be helpful. Not the flip-up pages but actual stories composed of the words that the kids have learned. That way by the time the finish the series they can actually read a whole book, not just a few words on each page. That said, I'm still very happy with my purchase and would do it again in a minute. For those parents who the program was not successful for, keep trying it every few months. Maybe your kids will respond to when they are older.
For use only if your children are TV Zombies October 28, 2009 Amy S. Mcfarland (California) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was so excited when I got these DVDs, hoping I could prepare my son for preschool and kindergarten. We watched the first DVD (you're supposed to watch it twice daily for a month) a few times, and he completely lost interest. We've tried to make a game out of it, I've tried making it more interactive, but the bottom line is that they're pretty boring. The author's own children star in it, and the entire DVD is the children saying/demonstrating a word, followed by it flashing in big letters on the screen.
Perhaps if I had started my son at age 6 months or so, it would have been worthwhile, but as it stands I can hardly stand to watch it for more than 10 minutes. I would highly recommend Leap Frog's letter factory instead.
