WOW! November 22, 2009 T. Williams (Plattsburgh, NY) I have been very athletic my whole life but am easily bored by time in the gym (probably why I was always more of a team sport type of gal). I've stuck with this workout because it is high energy and goes by so fast that I don't mind popping it in every day. I've noticed a big difference in my legs and abs and can't wait to see what it does for my performance this ski season!
Awesome workout November 22, 2009 A. Miller (Minnesota) One of my employees recommended this DVD to me, it's a great workout in just 20 minutes. Perfect for a quick morning workout! I do wish there were more workouts, would love to see Jillian come out with another version that has maybe 10-20 workouts to choose from, but all still just 20 minutes each. I really like the combination of cardio, strength and core. It's a great workout for beginners and for those already in good shape. I recommended it to my sister, who loves it as well!
AWESOME workout November 22, 2009 D. Sacks (White Hall, MD) This was a better than expected workout. Very challenging! Don't be surprised if you are a bit sore the next day :) If you can keep up, you will lose weight.
Good for experienced exercisers! November 20, 2009 kc_sunshine101 (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let me preface this review by saying that I am 29 and have worked out semi-regularly since I was 19 years old. I worked at a gym for 1.5 years and had access to the best equipment, personal trainers, etc. I would only recommend this video to one demographic: people that have experience with working out (specifically strength training) and people that can move from exercise to exercise very quickly. Now, before anyone gets all up in arms, let me explain myself.
This video moves VERY quickly. Jillian uses a 3-2-1 approach: 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of ab work. She repeats this 3 times = 18 minutes, plus a little stretching before and after. As a 5'5" 125 pound female, I even found it difficult to get up and off the ground fast enough to keep up with her. In addition, when you are using free weights, FORM IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Unless you have experience using free weights, this is not where you should start. This video simply isn't long enough for Jillian to teach someone proper form, that really should be done by a personal trainer. If you can't afford a PT, pick up "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips first. He has a plethora of pictures to assist you with learning proper form. I think that one runs the risk of hurting themselves if they jump right into this video with no prior knowledge of how to use free weights. Even I, an experienced exerciser, found myself sore in places that I really shouldn't be (shins, knees, elbows, wtf!).
Anyway, if you are an experienced exerciser and want something quick for one of your off-days, this may do the trick. Just pay close attention to your form. You may not sweat a ton, but you will be sore the next day. Jillian is quite the little butt-kicker, if I do say so myself.
Love It! November 19, 2009 J. Benedict I've been working out to Jillian for two weeks now and absolutely love it! After a couple of days I felt great and could really tell a difference. I haven't finished out the month yet but can already tell a difference in the way my clothes fit! Looking forward to getting to level 3!!
