Amazon.com Mad Men returns, and guess what? It’s still one of the best shows on TV. Season two continues the slow progression to absolute greatness. The first season left us with a number of cliffhangers, and the beginning of the second season doesn’t cleanly wrap things up. Instead, we leap forward nearly 2 years and are thrown into an even more tumultuous time where the Norman Rockwell-idealized era is only ideal on the surface (slightly below we find rampant alcoholism, marriage dissolution, casual sexism and racism). There is resolution, eventually, for all the questions left unanswered, but in true slow-as-molasses-but-still-riveting Mad Men form, we get to wait the entire season for answers.
A lot has changed in these two years at Sterling-Cooper and it is exciting watching the 60’s progress through the unique lens of Mad Men. Everything that made Season one incredibly compelling television is back. The terrific acting, pitch-perfect writing, gorgeous art direction and impressive attention to detail are all the unshakeable foundation to a meandering yet precise plotline that keeps the viewer glued to the television. Special features include extensive commentaries and featurettes that examine 1960’s fashion, the rise of women in the workplace, and defining historical events of the era.—Kira Canny

Mad Men 2 November 23, 2009 Nancie L. Slovenkay (Wickliffe, OH USA) Excellent product. It was here before I knew it! Product was in excellent condition (like new) at a very reasonable price. I would buy from this vendor again in a heartbeat.
Great show!! History 'remade'... November 22, 2009 Michelle H. Welch (Chattanooga, TN) Man Men is draws you in and you don't want to miss one minute. That one minute might be a clue to things to come or things from the past. Watching how people dressed and acted during that time is like going back in time.
Greatest TV Show Ever? Very possibly. November 20, 2009 Miles D. Moore (Alexandria, VA USA) Season 1 of "Mad Men" was brilliant; Season 2 is even more so. Judging from the first two seasons, Matthew Weiner and the rest of the "Mad Men" crew are putting in a strong bid for the title of Greatest Television Program of All Time. As some previous reviewers have remarked, a lot of sins from Season 1 are coming home to roost in Season 2. We see the already troubled marriage of Don and Betty Draper (Jon Hamm, January Jones) turn rockier still; the struggles of Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) with her family and her Catholic faith; the continuing workplace humiliation of the shrewd, unflappable Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks); the increasing cold-bloodedness of Roger Sterling (John Slattery), Peter Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser), "Duck" Phillips (Mark Moses), and Bert Cooper (Robert Morse). The characters are endlessly fascinating, the dialogue subtle and sharp, the period recreation of the early 1960s miraculous. The storyline takes surprising yet completely believable turns, and the cast is so great that my favorite actor on the show tends to be the one I happen to be watching at the time.
My only caveat: "Mad Men," like "Deadwood," is not a show you can pick up by watching a random episode. To know what's going on and get the show's full impact, you need to begin at the beginning and progress in a completely orderly fashion. Season 2 of "Mad Men" is magnificent, but you won't realize how magnificent it is unless you've seen all of Season 1 first.
Mad Men is Fabulous November 20, 2009 Avid reader. (Washington, DC) I am astonished by the writing, acting, sets, costumes, --all elements of this terrific show. Happy to purchase it and grateful for Amazon's good pricing and quick delivery.
Mad Men Season Two November 18, 2009 Lynne H. Reese Excellent! this series just couldn't get any better. Or could it? I finally believe that not all Hollywood writers are brain dead. They have come up with some brilliant plots and the lines are terrific! Can hardly wait for Season Three to be out so I can watch it marathon style!
