Product Description Movie DVD
Amazon.com The miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream begins in the 1940s, when Joseph Jackson (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) and Katherine (Angela Bassett) meet and fall in love, and ends in the 1980s, when their sons reunite for the 1983 Victory Tour that brought them back together as the Jacksons. During the first part, "The Early Years," the couple starts a family, and although times are tough, Joseph still finds time to play music on the side. When he discovers that his sons have inherited the same talent, the Jackson 5 are born. They sign with Motown and start churning out the gold records. The second part, "The Success Years," begins in 1970 at the peak of their fame, but by 1976, the hits have started to dry up. If the acting is uneven and the story somewhat sanitized, Bassett is affecting, and the series includes Emmy-winning choreography and a combination of original and re-created material, ranging from "I Want You Back" (1969) to Michael Jackson's "Beat It" (from 1982's multi-platinum Thriller). --Kathleen C. Fennessy

THE LIFE OF A SUPER MEGA STAR AND HIS FAMILY November 1, 2009 BRENDA ROBERTSON (Smithville, MO) This film does a good job of depicting the story of The Jackson family's life. I could watch it over and over and not tire of it. I think you would like this movie even if you are not a Michael Jackson or The Jacksons fan. It is a love story and the story of a family rising from rags to riches and all the hardships of both worlds. It makes you hurt for the family members while at the same time cheering them on. All in all it is a very good story. I hope this review helps.
The Jacksons- An American Dream October 18, 2009 T. Forster (Victoria, Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great insight into the Jacksons. This movie is emotional and when they first came on the charts here in Australia I had no idea of what they went through to becaome the stars they were. All we new was that they were better than the Osmands. At least the Jacksons didn't alwasy sing other peoples songs. Great to watch I am glad I have it.
Satisfied September 14, 2009 Roselyn R. Berry The item arrived on time and in the conditioned it was ordered. I am satisifed and would order from this seller again.
It's say's it all...The Jackson's September 13, 2009 Karen E. Johnson (North Dallas, TX) If anyone really cares, this says it all. Who are you to deny a child a childhood???
Excellent movie about MJ's early life September 10, 2009 Susie (NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was shown on MJ's 51st birthday on either BET or VH1 (I forget which one)and I recorded it onto my DVR. The movie was interesting and very well made. I recommend this for anyone interested in how the Jackson's got their start in the music business. I am considering buying the DVD version so that I have a permanent copy of this.
