I bought these for discrete in wall speakers to go with my living room setup. When I took them out of the box and tried them just plugged in, they were just ok. Once I got them into the wall with some insulation packed behind them, the sound was night and day difference. They sound excellent, and the bass they provide was astounding for such a small speaker. Would definitely recommend at the price that dropped 30 bux after I bought them...grrrrr.

A little bassy compared to my Polk TSi100 front speakers, but that's ok. Over time you get it all balanced out. Definately good enough for a high end set of surround sound speakers. Can't beat the quality for the price. I'd even use them as fronts if I were looking to start over. Hmmm, maybe I WILL do that. :-)

I have purchased 10 pair and am very pleased with the sound quality. Installation is simple. Can be wall or ceiling mounted. Adjustable tweeter allows mounting in less than optimal locations. I am using for whole house music and one pair as rear surrounds. All work fine and the price for the quality is unbeatable.

I went to a local super electronics store and listened to all they had. To beat this speaker system the price jumped by at least $100. Unfortunately the super store was out of stock on this speaker so I spent a few hours surfing the www and found my best deal from a vendor here at Amazon. The instructions are clear and installation was simple. The slightest overtightening of the mount screws does distort the frame and impairs the grille installation but just back them off and it will work. Mine are installed about 2 feet away from each side of my flat screen tv and do a great job of enhancing the sound. I do have a slight hearing loss and these speakers are sufficiently sensitive to tone adjustments and compensate very well (my apologies to my neighbor). If you are an extreme sound buff and can easily afford the $500 models I say go for it. For Mr. Practical and just over $200 this set is a very nice package.

Installed these and the Polk Audio RC80i in-ceiling the same weekend - both should have been easy. The 85is are a little larger than I was expecting - but sound great. The TV is (of course) above a fireplace and the speakers on either side. Please take note that the studs in a setup like this may not run the way you think - I had to notch mine to get the speakers in.
