 PAPER JAM SUCKS!!! November 1, 2009

JUST MY OPINION
HI ALL, DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. I have own mine for about 2 1/2 years; and lately it is not stop paper jams or wrong size. Error messages.It was a once an a while deal, but now I can not count on it. Note I have changed paper stock several times and with only HP paper. I have maybe ran 1500 sheets of paper and maybe 80-100 photos. BUT and I mean BUT a good 1/3 of the paper were paper jam. WHEN this printer works, it works well; BUT TO MANY PAPER JAM. I believe for the amount of paper ran through it; it is not old; just by the age. DO NOT BUY!!!!!! AN FOR YOU HP I WANT A NEW PRINTER!! FOR FREE OR I LEAST I BE WILLING TO PAY FOR SHIPPING. thank you for your time. you no believe me; check the internet for the complaint; it affects this unit as a whole.

i have found a quick fix for the photosmart 3210 not feeding paper correctly and giving an "out of paper" message
to fix this problem you will need Some "Q" tips and some saliva yes thats right spit from your mouth. im not kidding
what you have to do is open the back access door on your printer locate the 2 Grey rollers inside (the ones that set on top of your paper when there is paper in the tray)then wet the Q tip with some saliva and scrub the 2 rollers. once done leave the back open and on your printer press "setup" then select "print Report" and the paper will feed through the back of the printer. once the printer stops take the paper out of the back and press ok when the printer says "out of paper" do this 5 times. then put the back on you printer then press ok once more and this should work. i tried this a week ago and it is still working

I've had this printer for awhile now and I think it is great. It is very easy to use. good quality prints. I love the convenience of photocopying at home. Easy to find replacement cartridges and install them.

I have had a 3210 for a couple of years. It is an excellent product for my purposes, and will scan in tiny photos, etc. with great results. I have done a family history doc of many pages with many old photos and documents with excellent results.
Printing, printing photos, copying, all that stuff is great with the following exceptions:
The price being asked for this by this seller is obscene. I paid $239 for mine in 2006.
And some time ago Adobe apparently stopped supporting it for pdf. I have tried reinstalling four or five versions of Reader, and it will no longer print pdf files created with current Adobe software, they come out looking like Cyrillic. I have to resort to screen captures and Paint editing into jpgs to print pdf stuff I need.
An additional flaw is the low capacity input and output trays.
I would buy this again in a minute, but not if I needed a lot of pdf, and not at this price.
I am a little curious about the problems people are reporting with color inks and black and white printing.
I too have seen the bizarre out of color ink messages when printing black and white, but I just select print anyway and that works fine. I do enough printing in color that I am not sure how much color ink the machine is using up for black and white printing.
I also ignore the warning ink is running low messages until I get a message that the ink is actually out. That seems to be okay to do, it does not affect the result. And I am certainly not going to replace a cartridge that is just running low.
I wonder if I am doing okay with this because I have downloaded more recent software from the hp site, as I have moved the printer from system to system. Maybe they fixed some of this at some point. I use the humongous download that has Photosmart Premier etc.in it. By the way, that installation fails without telling you why unless the printer is connected, if the printer is connected, it seems to install with no trouble, although it takes a long time.

This thing is a piece of junk. I bought it because of its alleged slide-scanning abilities, which I have never got to work properly. Overall, I have had nothing but trouble with it from the start. You name it -- hardware, software, paper feed, scanner, etc. I should have returned it but no, I kept thinking that I was the problem, that a little more practice and it would be fine. Sorry, I am NOT the problem and Hewlett Packard should be ashamed it ever sold this thing. And I might add, it goes through ink cartridges faster than any printer I have ever seen.
