Product Description From the Manufacturer
Why Sanyo eneloop?
Sanyo eneloop rechargeables can replace an entire kitchen drawer's worth of dry cell batteries
You already know the benefits of using conventional rechargeable batteries. But Sanyo eneloop batteries have advantages over other rechargeables that put them a step ahead.
Sanyo eneloop batteries are an excellent choice for your rechargeables because:
* They can be used right after purchase
* They consistenly yield high performance
* They have a long shelf life with no loss of energy
* They can be used everywhere
* They are environmental friendly
Self-Discharge: Why Conventional Rechargeables Don't Cut It
Conventional rechargeable batteries have numerous advantages that make them great to use for your portable electronics. But they also come with certain disadvantages. After purchase, rechargeable batteries have to be charged before they can be used. And once charged, rechargeable batteries lose the stored energy rather fast. The charging takes quite long and rapid chargers are expensive. Not only that, but continuous charging or frequent charge to "top off" the lost energy (without complete discharge) can destroy the battery.
All these negative attributes have one root-cause: self discharge. Self-discharge means that a charged battery slowly discharges itself without any equipment consuming any current. This is the reason for rechargeable batteries being sold in a discharged state. And this is the reason that keeping charged batteries for some time did not make any sense. When you needed them, the energy was gone. Sanyo eneloop batteries have an extremely low rate of self-discharge, which means they hold their stored energy for a very long time--charge your batteries once and put them in your kitchen drawer, and over a year from now you'll still be able to use them right away, without needing to charge them again.

best everyday battery November 27, 2009 Nijel if you are planning to use this for your gadgets, this battery is for you! im using this for my dslr and flash. life is very long!
Very long life November 26, 2009 S. Trahan (GA) I am extremely impressed with these batteries. I purchased after reading the reviews. I have only used them in my Nikon SB-600 so far, but in this application, they last far longer than standard AA non- rechargeable batteries. I have only had them for a couple of months so I can't speak to the durability yet.
Amazing Batteries November 25, 2009 Teleplayer (MA) I purchased 12 of these about a year ago. I have previously used powerex and nexcell NiMH in two cameras. If I left the camera sitting for a few months, the batteries would be dead. These Eneloops are amazing, for over 9 months, every time I pick up a camera it works just fine.
Previously I would keep batteries in the charger at all times, because I had to. I don't need to do that any more.
I am very impressed and have discarded all my old batteries.
I have no idea why some of the older reviews mentioned bad or defective batteries. Perhaps there was a problem that has now been solved.
Yes - They work great November 24, 2009 Down0041 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a dad with 2 kids. Two years ago I made the decision to switch to rechargeable batteries, because of the large number of AA batteries we were plowing through...
At the time, I read all the articles, and agonized over "which batteries, which charger, etc..".
This is just my follow up to say that I have been using the Eneloop batteries for the last 2 years (along with a MAHA MH-C401FS charger). They have been exactly what I needed. They hold a charge great, quick to recharge, and no hassles.
Most importantly, they just do what you need a rechargeable battery to do- WORK.
I pop these in my kid's camera, and they last for 2 months or more. If you have ever seen a kid play with a digital camera, you know that's impressive.
Anyway, I'm not an engineer, but I just wanted to throw out my own experience, and say that, yes, these do the trick.
Regarding the charger, the only down side that I have noticed is that the batteries can get warm when charging. However, I always charge on Fast mode, so I'm not exactly surprised.
Very rapid discharge November 22, 2009 MedStudent (Atlanta, GA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
These batteries are supposed to retain their charge for years. I charged mine up, and two days later...dead. Retains no charge over time. Perhaps I received a defective set.
