4 out of 5 stars Kindle in Australia Great but not perfect   November 28, 2009

I find using the Kindle to read books more convenient generally than just having the books - particularly I like the dictionary and the search facility. It helps when a character is introduced early in the book and then reappears much later to be able to quickly , using the search facility , to go back and to recall who that person is . Some books like Tolstoy's War and Peace have complicated families with many names.
What I don't like is the limited range of books available in Australia, books where there is no chapter and page references and the general lack of artwork or photographs

4 out of 5 stars Okay....I guess....   November 28, 2009

The Kindle2 is adequate for my needs (Lo-vision reading). I can enlarge the text enough to be able to read it well. I look forward to some software updates....soon. This is really a no-frills eReader. I am going to get my sister a "Nook" for her eReader. It does have the frills and a much more elegant machine.

4 out of 5 stars Pleasantly suprised.   November 28, 2009

I am new to the Kindle thing and quite frankly most electronic devices. I have been pleasantly suprised with how easy to use and how quickly I am able to download things. Even when sending things to the freekindle link so things can be formatted into kindle format, it was so easy and quick. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it would be so much better to not have to have things formatted to kindle format. A couple times the text changed during the formatting process and either came to my kindle so small, or once the words were all jumbled. Anyway, since this is something that either happens very rarely or is tolerable, I completely say 4 stars since it has saved me so much time reading etexts and journals for school.

5 out of 5 stars I love my Kindle   November 28, 2009

I've had my Kindle for about 8 months now, and I'm still very satisfied. The Kindle is easy to use and works great. Here are a few positives I didn't expect that make it a 5 star item for me:

- The battery lasts a very long time. I only charge mine about every 2 weeks.
- The built in dictionary. I love being able to scroll to a word while reading and have a definition pop up at the bottom of the screen.
- Book samples. I really like searching for books online and trying out the free sample chapters.
- Download speeds. The books download much faster than I expected.

I still use my Kindle almost every day. I definitely recommend it for anyone that loves to read.

5 out of 5 stars Quick, Easy, Light, and Packable - A Must Have for Travellers   November 27, 2009

The kindle is one of the most helpful, easy to use, clutter reducing, easy on the eyes, simple to travel with, downloads books with ease, navigates periodicals with simplicity, and takes up a small amount of space when traveling. If you enjoy reading multiple books, have a penchant for periodicals, or are just looking to reduce your CO2 impact, the Kindle is a must have. This a durable list of "pro's" and the only "con" is that you need to include a light in dark places, should put the KINDLE at the top of your wishlist. Read more, you'll get smarter.
