Unlike other similar lights this one's shutting down in response to light is much higher, which means this light goes off in situations that could hardly be called dark. Wastes batteries which are not included. Look for a different light.
 Motion Sensor Does Not Work November 23, 2009

On the back of the product there is a switch with 3 options - On, Off, or "Auto"(Motion Sensor). The On and Off states work fine. However, the "Auto" state (Motion Sensing) setting does not work on the product sent to me. When in the Auto position, the light turns on, then goes off after a short period - but does not active when I wave my hand in front of it - at close range (1" in front), and further away. The motion sensor simply does not work. I am disappointed.
Didn't pay just to have more touch lights! November 12, 2009

Paid for 4 motion sensor units that I expected to light when I'm 4 or 5 ft away.
Instead I got 2 that will light if I'm less than 2 ft away and 2 that light when
I pick them up. Also the 2 that I have to pick only have 9 leds otherwise all 4 units look the same. If batteries had been included might have been worth the cost. The trip down the hall is still turn on a light or carry a flashlight for part of the way. Cannot recommend this product unless you have very low expectations.
Does anyone make a motion sensor rope light?

I needed a light for a hard to reach cabinet under my cooktop. I tried one of those push on/off types but it was hard to get to the light to turn it on and off. This light is bright and the motion sensor and auto-off feature make it perfect for my application.

I purchased this light and the Maxxima MLS 1 for placement in locations where I don't have an outlet to plug into. This unit is far more sensitive to motion and far brighter than the Maxxima. Light is definitey bright white (LED white without a diffuser cover like the Maxxima has) so I wouldn't want to use it in a bedroom but it's great if you actually want sufficient light to see - unlike the Maxxima...and the price was better! For plug in motion sensor light the GE 50723 is awesome - especially with the Crane LED bulb!!
